i am seriously questening myself about dryer cyle lengh and drying time between a vintage dryer like this 78 model or 74 model because next set if curent set breaks i am seriously thinking of trying to convince my mom if she still think brand new the way to go that we go eater with a vintage belt drive set or vintagedirect drive set i relly do not get why if we count energy effency a washer should take 40 minutes to 2 hours for washing clothes and near 2 hour (auto cycle) 90 minute (*time dry) plus even myself who the one that dolaundry for my mom and myself have started to complain about the long wash time drying sigh

Long Dry Time

Pierre if your dry time recently seems to be too long disconnect the exhaust piping and check both the outlet from dryer and if you have electric leaf blower blow out the exhaust piping, you might be surprised with the amount of lint that could be stuck in exhaust pipe. Even if I wash something on delicate or permanent press I will still do a final spin on regular cycle to get maximum amount of water extracted. I also do not use fabric softener to avoid sticky lint, I use wool dryer balls now.

Pierre, checking the dryer vent for lint buildup is a great place to start. The other thing to consider is the slow spin speed of the belt drive washer (515 rpm). Maybe you could look around and find a small extracteur to spin laundry before drying. There are probably many European brands of appliances around you and maybe you could get a deal on an extracteur and on the up side, you could get another appliance and add an extra play step between washing and drying even if you had to divide the load in two and spin it that way before drying. I usually spin loads of heavy cottons at 1400 rpm in my Miele W1918 before drying. It makes a big difference in drying time and it could make for big savings on your electric bill, a potent argument for getting another appliance. Keep us up to date on this.

Indeed!
People take for granted dryer's venting system.
It needs to be maintained, checked on occasion.
When I moved into my home, I noticed the Maytag dryer there was taking a long while to dry things.
One evening, being bored, I popped the front of the cabinet off.
Loads of old lint-dust!
And in the rear of the blower casing, where the vent pipe connects, a dead bird, covered in lint!
Once all that debris was cleaned out, vent pipe cleared, voila!... substantially shorter dry times!
And for good measure, I installed those louvered outdoor exhaust gizmo things to keep birds, bugs and critters out, and draft free in the winter.

good advice
