vive les fraco-phones
...and I heard that English speaking Quebec-ers responded by voting with their feet. They moved out!
I was in Montreal and a woman came out of the woodword literally fuming mad and spitting out :
"Vous-etes la corrupcion de le societe" "You (plural) are the corruption (down-fall) of society" aimed at my group of four. We were sepaking among us, NOT approaching a native with English. So I swiftly replied in French something to the effect of "What is going on here?, I'm from New York and I don't speak or need French.
At about this time the Gendarme (cops) appeared out of nowhere and asked If I wanted to press charges...So I declined. Not visiting someone else's country to start trouble.
What I should have said to her was:
"Ton Cul Very Moche" Sounds like "Thank you very much" to an Anglo-phone, But also sounds like "Your a@@ smells" to a Franco-phone!
Word Etymology lesson:
Phone => FONI (Accent on the final letter) means voice in Greek. (Telephone= long distance/remote voice (carrier))
So an Anglo-phone is an English speaker!!
Who me, preachy? no way? LOL
