I went out to the appliance salvage places today like I do every six months and the first two were a bust.

Then I went to this VERY old place and just asked him if he has ever heard or seen a Frigidare Jet-cone?

He said yea I have one in the back that works great. He wanted 70  bucks for it and I bought it.

It does need some cleaning mainly but I was wondering if y'all guys can tell me what year it is?

Here is some pics they ant the best cause that place is dark and my phone sucks.

I will know tomorrow this guy was walking out the door and locking up.He had to delivery a fridge and was late there was

enough time for me to see it run and I paid him and sense he had to leave he is going to clean it up and bring it to me free.

I think it is about a 1973 version or so...

HI Wes

The tub and the 5 stage rocket look to be in really nice shape. Congrats on getting one of the best performers in the business.
I'm sure you'll find the cup & cap sooner or later.

First thing I would do is take the hinges off the washer top and clean the machine cabinet under the hinges. This is a place where rust often starts.

You'll love how this washer cleans your clothing. They are one of my favorite washers. And you certainly got a good deal on it.

Great Machine

Someone on this site probably has an extra bleach dispenser and a cap. If you don't have the bleach dispenser which has a spring on the bottom your cap will rattle during agitation. I have this machine and use it every week - You will love it.
Congratulations on finding it !!!!!

So this is a Frigidaire right? It's not some WCI Frankenstein Jet-Cone.I don't know much about these cause never had one

so never had a chance to take it apart like I do with all my machines.I have heard about all the bad things that WCI did to

everything once they got done.My best Friend has a mid 90s Frigidaire washer and I kinda like it.It has a large opening and

the tub indexes and it does wash really well. I was kinda shocked.  Maybe it's cause I don't see that spiral agitator in it(BORING) and

that is why I like it.It does have a strange straight at the top and then it slant's down to the left if your looking in.I am going to

take care of this one and not try to kill it like I do with my dishwasher's and my G.E. Harmony..

Wes, it is pure GM Frigidaire

First off it would not say GM on it if it were made by WCI second, when WCI took over Frigidaire they put White Westinghouse guts in the GM style Frigidaire washer cabinet....remember only General Motors made Frigidaire washers with the up and down Pulsator...congrats on your new find....PATRICK COFFEY

Aferim!

While you're waiting to find a cap, there's a NOS Frigidaire Fabric Softener Dispenser for sale on ebay that will do double duty (search: Vintage Fabric Softener Dispenser). It's a little pricey, but you might want it. I'll keep an eye out for the bleach cup; kinda rare, unfortunately. You'll love this machine. And best of all, you scored one with a WINDOW IN THE LID. If, for some reason, you ever decide to ditch this machine, get a screwdriver, remove that lid very carefully, and put it up on Ebay or offer it here. Somebody is going to want that part!

Wow

1-18's are my favorite! Excellent washing action and fantastic rinsing, can handle anything. They are loud and splashy. Keep an eye on Ebay for a jet-cone cap. Without it, you can't leave the top open to watch unless you want to take a shower at the same time. And you might need to switch to low-suds detergents, this beast will work up a head of suds.

I love how the spin-drain starts out on slow to save the motor a bit, then kicks into high speed once the tub is closer to empty. And the spin-spray is plentiful, then just keeps on spraying to fill for rinse. That circular spray is excellent and pretty unique(not entirely) to GM Frigidaire.

What a loud and powerful and active design this was. But you'll find that window lid, while I am jealous, is useless, just tons of splash and not much visible. Oh well, damn cool machine.

Throw us another close-up shot on the timer if you can. 2 cycles?

I have no clue about market penetration when these were out I was not born or just learning to walk.I have been cleaning a place

out for space all day and my prosthetic is killing me so I have it at our storage place that was a mile he called at 8 A.M.

this morning and I am a BAD insomniac the Epilepsy makes me sleep to much or not enough.I did find a picture of one same model

that looks just like it I think though from yogitunes that was posted here.I hope he don't mind? This is what mine will look

like cause I am going to redo everything I can on it.

The washing performance of these machines was/is superb. Though not quite as trouble-free as a Maytag Helical Drive machine, a lot of practical thought went into the design. Weak areas might be the bellows and spin clutch. Enjoy your restoration.

Congrats on your new find.....

don't mind at all.....these are some of the greatest machines to add to ones collection...its a hard tie between one of these and a filterflo....pros and cons for both, but equal fun!.....

true, you can't really see nothing thru that window, but just cool to have it....wonder if it would be better with an inside light?...there has to be a way.....now you guys got me thinking....dag.....lol
