hello everyone!! i'm so excited about my new purchase and wanted to ask the questions i have before it arrives. it will arrive in this week. i'm upgrading from a really old Arcelik dishwasher that doesn't wash well anymore and keep causing problems.

i'm living in Turkey, and the flagship/top of the line BSH dishwasher models here are:

Bosch: SMS8YDI82T — https://www.bosch-home.com.tr/urun-...-genisliginde-bulasik-makineleri/SMS8YDI82T#/

Siemens: SN27YI82DT — https://www.siemens-home.bsh-group....m-ebatli-bulasik-makineleri-60cm/SN27YI82DT#/

i bought the Siemens one.

my questions are:

1. did i make a good purchase? what are your thoughts about these models? hopefully i did, because i paid a lot hahaha.

2. are these Bosch and Siemens model exactly the same, apart from the some minor design/color changes?

3. why do these have B rating in Turkey? they still have better ratings than other models in Turkey, but i see that the same models in Germany have the A rating. do they use different interiors or something? is this a bad thing?

4. i remember reading a thread here and people were talking about Bosch not having the PowerControl spray arms. but, both the Siemens and Bosch models have PowerControl spray arms here. am i missing something? is it better to have them or not?

5. i see that these models have a feature to automatically open the door when drying finishes, my previous dishwasher didn't have this. so i'm confused about it, do y'all suggest me to turn it on for all programs, or use it just for eco? and also, these models have 3 drying features i guess (zeolith + warm fan + auto door) if i turn on this auto door function, does it still use Zeolith and Fan drying too? like do they affect each other?

6. i see that these have an extra spray arm on the middle rack called "Extra Clean Zone". you can turn them off or on via pushing a physical button inside the rack. my question is, if i turn this on, does it lower the water pressure for other spray arms? if it doesn't affect the pressure of other arms then i would use it on all the time, but i'm confused. the manual says turning it on would change the water consumption, but how does it understand i'm using the Extra Clean Zone since it's a physical button inside? why does it change water usage? do y'all suggest me to leave it on all the time?

7. would y'all suggest the "Auto 40-65" program? that's the one i'm thinking to use most of the time, but i can't decide if i should use Auto or Eco mode instead. does Auto wash/rinse better than Eco?

8. i see that there's a sensor setting for the Auto mode, with 3 different settings: standard/sensitive/extra sensitive. i guess setting it to sensitive makes it more likely to dedect dirty water, am i right? which one do y'all suggest?

i knew this was a bit lengthy, but there's no other forum that can help me about these. thank you guys so much, i will wait for the replies 🙏🏻

1. Really depends on your situation. My mum has a MOL Zeolith DW from Siemens, a good family friend has the same model and good friends of mine also bought a similar model. None of them are appliance interested, but all like it.

2. The technology is the exact same - a Siemens pump is from the exact same production as a Bosch one etc.
Some features are different, like the intense zone working differently etc.

3. B and A machines have a different insulation system. That's why you can get B and C machines rated at 40db, but A machines only in 43db and higher.
Given that the different usage only applies to the Eco cycle, getting a quieter B machine is a better deal IMO.

4. There are no PowerControl machines in Bosch or Siemens Germany line. Not being in their home market makes competent reviews from them very rare.
So really hard to say - given what they are they should be as good or better as the current design, but with of course more to go wrong.
But the one review that is easy to find reports mediocre cleaning - but then again it's on a US based machine with pointers towards other factors influencing the results.
So you are somewhat of a first for that...

5. I am not 100% sure, but it should use ALL drying features if activated for all cycles.
And then, there are only a few circumstantial factors when the AutoOpen should be deactivated.
If you have curious pets or children, you might not want the machine to open without supervision etc.
Otherwise, it should only improve the results.

6. I was surprised to learn myself through the service literature when working at BSH that the machine DOES compensate for an activated additional cleaning zone by adding some water and increasing pump rpm.
That is handled through a calibration offset value. All these extra clean zones come with dissolvable barrier in then that ensures that even if you turn it on during the first ever cycle, no water goes through it. The machine calibrates that during the first cycle knowing that extra clean zone is switched off.
That's why if you have to replace both the System Master Module (the part of the machine storing firmware, configurations and handling stuff like connectivity) and the power module, the service manual instructs you to make sure that zone is switched of during the first full cycle.
Keep in mind that it uses a bit more water and energy with it switched on and I haven't noticed any real benefit.

7. Most anybody just runs the Auto cycle. It's reasonably efficient, reasonably quick and cleans/drys almost perfectly.
Though the Eco cycle is certainly more efficient day to day and performs pretty damn well for it's usage, it does make compromises. It doesn't do a full drain after the prewash and drying isn't as good. So if you have a lot of plastics or colored food and don't fuzz about the 10-20% of savings, just going with Auto is your best bet.

8. I don't know anybody who has adjusted the Auto sensor.
If you have a lot of dishes with very low soil, that is dried in and hard to remove you might nee that option.
Think tea/coffee kitchen in a office. Usually, the machine a few dozen cups in it and is run every now and then. You don't have much soil like sauces or chocolate or such to color the water and trigger a higher performance cycle by sensing. But you need higher temps to tackle coffee and tea stains through bleaching.
Then you'd set a different sensor sensitivity.
For home use, you really rarely need that option. Run a few sensor cycles, see if your happy with the results and if not, adjust - though I highly doubt you'll have to.

henene really thank you so much. you answered all of my questions and my curiosity is now gone hahaha. THANK YOU!!

i have one last thing to ask about the question 6, since your reply about that part confused me a little bit. you talked about the machine calibrating itself on first run for the Extra Clean Zone. does this mean when my machine arrives, should i make sure the Extra Clean Zone is turned off? like should i not use it on my first test run, then can continue using it turned on all later programs?

thanks again.

an update, i bought a Bosch not Siemens

update: the Siemens dealer told me that the device isn't on their warehouse currently and it might take over 2 weeks for it to arrive, so i canceled my order and bought the same Bosch version of it (SMS8YDI82T). Had to say goodbye to blue lights :)

an another question to henene

while waiting for my new machine to arrive, i was doing some more research and saw about a problem that worried me a little bit. looks like on the previous Zeolith models, there was a chronic problem with water leaking into Zeolith and causing E07 and E15 errors etc. which were chronic and affected many people even before warranty run out. Many people got the problem back after replacing the faulty part.

Here is a Reddit link with some discussion about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/appliancerepair/s/7lXmJY15wF

On the same Reddit post, someone even commented with a confidential PDF from Bosch, which admits the fault and urging the repairers to change the faulty part if there is an error, link here: https://media3.bsh-group.com/Documents/58300000234229_abz_en_a.pdf

My question is, do these problems still continue to exist on current Zeolith devices? When my device arrives I'll check the manufacturing date immediately, am I safe if it's an 2024 device?

Thank you so much!!

My Siemens is from 2020 and has a shield installed. I suppose it's a heat shield, Henrik? Was recently running an Intensive cycle with the speed and extra dry option and it got hot:

There is a Steam pre-wash option on the Turkish BSH dishwashers? Interesting.

But they ditched the varioSpeed option on the models with Power control (at least on the control panel)? 😱 I use it all the time when I'm not using the 90-minute Fast cycle to begin with. Along with the Shine & Dry extra rinse, which is a Siemens feature in Germany (although Bosch might have it in the app).

I'm also noticing more A-rated dishwashers from them that neither have the thick insulation, nor all the drying aids (zeolite and auto-door). The overall cycle time dropped by 25 minutes and the final rinse temp increased by 6°C. However, water consumption went down by .5 liters, which I'm guessing is where the savings are coming from.

yeah, we have the Power Control too. lots of differences in general which is all confusing to me hahaha. by shield, what do you mean? is it the additional part that i talked about that apparently protects from Zeolith failures?

Check out my link. You can see it in the first picture. It looks a little different from the document you posted but I suppose it serves a similar purpose.

There is a heat shield near the Zeolite container, yes.

Further, yes, there were designs that had Zeolite issues.
Those were the ones with a glass encased heater.
Since the System Master Module has been introduced, I think all switched back to the flat heater.
The same heater had been used at the very beginning.
Don't think you'll have more problems that usual.

thank you so much, you relieved me.

but of course my reply comes with a new question haha, hope i'm not bothering you 🥲

i want to ask, does the Auto mode use all of the wash actions and high RPM's for sprays? for example i saw on YouTube videos that Eco mode uses most of the sprayer combinations and wash actions, is it the same for Auto?

Honestly don't know if Auto adapts spray pressure.
You certainly hear a difference between Eco, Auto and Intensive for example - same if you select VarioSpeed for a cycle.
Eco dosen't use the lowest spray pressure though, that's the silence cycle.

It's honestly pretty hard to tell what is being sprayed when an how much on the super insulated machines.
