Here's me; just trying to get a functional agitator with lint filter for my Maytag conventional washer.
About our first attempt less said the better. The seller sent the missing spline (NIB), but without an arbor press have no real way of installing. Am *NOT* going to purchase one just for that one off job, so that's me for you.
As luck would have it finally ran another to ground; contacted seller, payment sent, item shipped... Upon arrival one's heart sank; the thing was busted at base into several pieces. The thing was packed into box sideways with little cushioning surrounding base, and well you know what Bakelite is; so that was that.
Well you know me; am not one to brood on my wrongs. No, when life hands one lemons, why not make lemonade? That or G&T!
Did a bit of research and found broken Bakelite can often be repaired using two part epoxy. As one still had quite a bit of the stuff used to patch up the GE Mobile Maid, figured why not. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So put down the G&T (actually did have a bunch of lemons in fridge that wanted using), and go to work.
So here I am with this:
