Well, I just bought an electric F&P Smartload, it's sittin' in the back of my car until I get off work. For those of you who don't know, I work at my local YMCA as a "laundry technician" I wash, dry and fold the towels here. It was an awesome job until I felt like doing something else, like INSTALLING the new Smartload!!! lol

Interesting detail -- SmartLoad has self-leveling rear legs. Tilt it forward, then back down, like a Kenmore or Whirlpool washer. The front will need adjustment, though.

FIANLLY!!!! YAY!!! It's been installed by yours truly and it's whirring away!! It think that both dryers need a tad bit of leveling done, but that's later! I have to admit, I was hoping that it was gonna be a bit louder, but it'll do. lol

The second load, almost dry, not quite. Mom INSISTS that all her clothes be dried on low heat. I hate it!!! I dry everything on medium though. lol

Jamie, I believe you'll find the SmartLoad much gentler with heat than the whirly. I did when I played with Glenn's last December.

Austin, I don't think that we will be gettin' rid of the Whirlpool just yet as it may prove useful to have 2 dryers. The Smartload I bought is actually electric, not gas. I have hookups for both gas and electric dryers in the laundryroom. Me and mom decided it would be easiest just to use both instead of trying to get more gaslines installed. Plus, the floor model happened to be elctric anyway, so we save $150 by going on the safeside! YAY!!

Bob, I have noticed lower temps! I love it, I hate frying everything in the dryer, the lower the temp, the better. Perhaps now I can convince mom to let me use medium heat instead of low heat on her clothes now!

A few mins ago I took a shirt out of a Perm Press load (at the "damp" signal), and the temp definitely is lower. It cooled off to room temp within a couple mins. However, I'm wondering (after having the dryer for two years, LOL) if maybe the Perm Press temp is a little toward being too low to effectively relax the fabric for shedding wrinkles. I always use Perm Press for casuals, haven't tried Regular or Denim to see what'd be the difference.

Jamie, your remark about the dryer not being noisy enough is funny.

lol! Those aren't mine actually, that load is all my mom's stuff. All of my clothes are brighter and more intense. I don't wear those dark olive, blues, or blacks; nor do I wear bras. lol

Yes, I drive. I drive a 2002 black Honda CRV. With the backseat down, I can JUST get a full size machine back there. The Whirlpool sign was printed at home. lol, my mom's fiance and his son live with us and they do their own laundry. I didn't want them to screw things up and cause a fire or something. I had one on the Bradford dryer too, it read, "DO NOT USE!!! (Leaves scorch marks)" LOL

Hi Jamie, well a big congrats on your fun new Dryer!!!! It looks just like a washer. Does the sign on the Whirlpool dryer say "broken belt"? I suppose you could have also said "gives shocks and curls hair" that would keep them away for sure sure LOL. Although I bet your mom wouldn't be so thrilled to see that.

I didn't FORCE anyone to use the new machine, they could try the old one, but there is no ventilation to it and the drum doesn't turn which makes the load inside take quite a while to dry. I think that mom has yet to step foot in the laundryroom since we got the new dryer. I have been keeping her so caught up that there is no need! Unfortunately, the arrival of the new dryer has put plans for completing the remodel of the laundry on hold. I wanna finish the remodel, but the dryer is so fascinating that I don't think about putting any effort into working on the laundryroom. Right now, the 500LBS triple tub cement sink has us stumped because it's sitting in the middle of the room and I can't move it at all by myself enough to get the other machines back in there. I want to take a sledge hammer to it and get rid of it, but mom wants to sell it on eBay. When the sink fell, it cracked majorly and now it can't be used, but mom seems to think it can be fixed. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I am DYING to get my 1-18 up and running again.
