I feel sad. For us, for the USA and for the world.

Quote:

"Police were not buying Latreasa L. Goodman's definition of emergency after she called 911 three times to report that her local McDonald's was out of chicken nuggets. Goodman had paid for her 10-piece McNuggets but was then informed by the employees that the restaurant had run out. Goodman claims she was refused a refund and felt it rose to the level of a 911 emergency. Police have charged Goodman with misusing 911.

The Smoking Gun has more information here. Listen to Goodman's dubious 911 calls below.

I think that McDonalds should have refunded her money. It would have been a common courtesy. But she didn't have to call 911 to create a stink about it.
Some people get so upset these days.....

The world is a BIG place that is filled with people with SMALL minds.
A civilized person is one who controls their emotions; the emotions don't run or/rule the person. Rational thought (always) prevails.
A person with class and intelligence is who who knows how to PROPERLY deal with the frustrations of both petty annoyances and huge obstacles to the fullfilment of their ego.
Here is some advice for her that every 3-year old should already know: Sorry, Life is "cruel" and you can't always get what you want when you want it. It's that simple.

Refund

While I don't condone what she did, their refusal to refund her money is almost as surprising. She obviously had her heart set on some nugs.

VERY WELL PUT TOGGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet, still another reason why I'm ready to leave florida.

This girl was on the local news here last night and they interviewed her. Her response as to how she felt now since the incident was "I'm ashamed, I'm embarrassed, I'm embarrased, I don't even what to show my face in publix"

First of all she should be every embarrassed.

Second--publix is a grocery store chain here.

She was also complaining that she is getting nasty messages on her pesonal cell phone. Well, what do you expect????

And, this is not the first time this has happened here in florida. A couple of months ago, a man (I think in Palm Beach) did the same thing, dialing 9-1-1, for (if i remember correctly)a rude person at a fast-food resturant.

There should be a law put in place for people that abuse 9-1-1 dialing. A VERY STEEP FINE!!!!!. Then lets see how many people call. Not only do floridians not know how to vote, they think that 911 is there personal big brother to beat up someone for them to help get them what they want.

Not to mention, it was just chicken nuggets for gods sake. I've been to resturants when they said they were out of something and chose something eles from the menu. Not a big deal.

Just a ploy

to get on all the talk shows and make mega bucks$$$is all it is about!

The wife of a friend of ours once called 911 when it first became operational just to see "if anyone was there". Two policemen came to her house to inform her of the fact that yes there is always somebody there and not to do that again!

Once I dropped the phone and when I picked it up I placed it in the receiver. I went outside to play with the dogs. Next thing I knew two police men were coming in the fence in my backyard and told me to put my hands up! They said that there was a 911 call from our house and they were there to investigate! Karen was out, but they wanted to search my house just to be sure "nothing funny" was going on. So they did, looking in closets, under beds, etc. While they were there I picked up the phone and hit the redial button, sure enough 911 came up. I must have hit that key sequence when I was fumbling with the phone earlier. What are the odds?

The business where I worked for 8 years had a phone number of 9111. My grandmother misdialed (at least the once that I know of), got 911 instead. She told me later that the sheriff had come by checking for something. She didn't understand why or for what, but seemed mildly impressed that they had shown interest to "come check on me."

Call 9-1-1 and make a cop come.

HA! My sister and her family live in an area of New York City that is a "suburb" of Flushing, Queens. Figure "all" chinese and a bit of other Asian.

Whn my very young niece dialed the phone that was used for the computer modem (remember those? LOL), we were scared to death of the phone bill and charges... couldn't be sure based on the reposnse of the poerson answering their phone if the call reached the far end of china, or nearby downtown Flushing..........

I kid you not. I can't make this stuff up! I'ts too good. LOL

oh and 9-1-1 was dialed as well; police at the door, as expected.

OK.

1) A manager would have given her a refund. I didn't see anywhee in the reports where she spoke to a manager. Register jockeys aren't able to give refunds but managers are. The jockey is just as at fault for not getting a manager.

2) "My McNuggets are an emergency" Huh???????

3) "No social security number was ascertained in this investigation" WHOA!! Big red warning light! She should have been taken into custody immediately, and held until she was identified as a bone fide US citizen!

Guaranteed those of us with jobs and paying taxes are also paying for her McNuggets.

Chuck

McD's should of refunded her money, as she requested before the situation escalated. It's a tough economy and people are quicker to anger. Good for her.

Thanks for the laugh

Just when I thought my day was bad I see this. Yes, give the lady a refund, take away her cell phone, and be sure she can't reproduce in the future!

Turns out in today's report that she was, indeed, dealing with a register jockey. McD's mgmt. said it was and is their policy to refund whenever necessary.

Plenty of fault still goes to the jockey for not getting the manager. Guaranteed they're told, when training, to get the manager whenever there's a problem.
