This has been one frustrating journey,

I’ve pulled the whole machine to bits (my backyard is a mess) and pulled apart the transmission, as it turns out the main shaft that connects to the pulley is rusty and the agitator shaft is rusted, one of the parts in the transmission (forgot what it’s called) has started to rust on the top as well.

If anyone is willing to ship over a standard capacity transmission for a reasonable price let me know, it will be greatly appreciated.

Shipping would be an issue

I’m not sure how much it would cost but my guess is over $200.

Unless someone on this site is good mates with an owner of a shipping company I don’t think there is a cheaper option.

Thanks for the offer, I’ll keep it in mind.

Also just realised I forgot to put this in the “Shoppers square” section.

I mixed that up, the pre 66 lower transmission stalks are longer, the newer are shorter.

The baseplate was mainly updated to accommodate the newer suspension design which put the suspension springs and eyelets in the outer portion of the baseplate rather than the inner center. Maytag also made changes to the cone of the snubber and damper dome, making it more shallow, and updated the damper pads. All of these changes were for the better.

Sorry to hear this wont work. The trans is up for grabs as I wont need the top section for my A407 now as I scrapped a very rusty A806 with a perfect working trans I will service for my A407. I'll prob scrap the old A407 trans as its very noisy and the splines very rusty and top bearing Im sure worn badly.
