Hi, I have an old Inglis Superb Plus washing machine model #UO 44680 that isn't engaging it's spin cycle. I've tried to find information online about this unit to no avail. I have gone underneath and taken out the transmission but it seems to be in working order, no obvious broken parts. I suspect it may be the belt, but it still looks quite fresh (I'll get a better clue when I bolt in the transmission again). It may be the wiring, I'll have to get a multimeter to check. I guess my question is, does anyone have any experience with this type of unit? A manual, perhaps? I'll include a picture from underneath and maybe someone can give me some advice? Thank you and warmest regards,
Mike

some machines get a bit finicky when it comes to installing a new belt....as in you have to slide the trans in place, and hand screw in the bolts, then stand the machine up, and reach under to tighten them and keep it centered....then you can lay it back down to attach the pump and tighten the belt.....

but in the mean time.....is the plunger engaging?....sliding the rod on the left causing the yoke to allow spinning to take place?

It might be either a bad connection or a bad solenoid on the wig-wag bar that shifts the transmission into spin or agitate.  I've got an older Inglis myself and found that most Whirlpool manuals will help.  I used a "RepairMaster" book for Whirlpool & Kenmore washers and that was a big help.

Check the red wire....

The first washer I owned 20 years ago was an Inglis that wouldn't spin. I called the Inglis service line (in the good old days when you used to be able to do that) and the technician told me to check the red wire (connects to the wigwag to engage spin). Sure enough the connector broke off. Spliced on a new connector and it worked like a charm!

A common term for this type of washer was "belt drive". Whirlpool and Kenmore were for the most part mechanically identical to these so if you are searching for info this should help. There are even free service manuals online if you do a google search.

Good luck!

Another potential cause of the no-spin situation could be the lid switch - I've had issues with the 66 Inglis and the 65 Lady Kenmore not spinning because of a stuck or slipped lid switch!
