Bought this a few months back at an estate sale. Cleaned it up, fixed the bowed plastic sidewalls with clamps and some heat, then used it for several months. Found a vintage Fridgidare bottom freezer (which is what I really wanted) and now I'm ready to say goodbye to this Philco. Would much prefer it went to a good home.

Yeh the 1 'cross the street got replaced w/ a Stainless

Wish I'd saved the neighbor's one in harvest gold among the other apps' that they had & sold w/ the place!

Saw another harvest SXS in a used appliance store w/ springs over the insides of the doors to make 'em close or so the people in the "home" that it was in wouldn't leave 'em open! The trim on the "fresh food" side was missing, too!

Then at a thrift store was a copper-tone one! (And "No Frost" was dubbed "Cold Guard"...!)

More on Philco Fridges: My Curiosity 'Bout "Some&#34

Are there any sort of "corporate stablemates" that this fridge may resemble?

I saw a Kelvinator appliance ad in a Readers Digest book in a doctor's office, which may have been a good 8-10-years old & the SideXSide fridge sure looked like this Philco 'cept for the name & possible handles & trim being much different!

I saw a Harvest Gold top freezer Kelvy which sure looked like this Philco & the inside was like my parents' Bradford 'cept for it being much bigger than their 14 cu. ft. (And there was a plug on the back wall of the interior that you weren't supposed to remove & to see the owners' manual for additional information & instructions; maybe it was in case you wanted to move the meat drawer that it was next to!)

I thought GE made Philco fridges, too; I'd seen one or two in my lifetime that just simply had a Philco/Ford badge... --Top freezers, in copper!

Then there was a discarded avocado Philco top freezer, that was labeled like an Admiral around the time that it existed...

If you were into Ford cars, this Philco would be awesome in your garage.

Rather funny that I have a Frigidaire ("Product of General Motors USA") right next to it in the kitchen, and a garage full of Chrysler products. I also have a '49 Kelvinator in the garage, closest thing to a Chrysler fridge because of Nash/Kelvinator becoming AMC, then AMC becoming part of Chrysler in 1987.

Here is the Frigidaire getting a high speed polish before moving into the Kitchen.

Re: Reply #10

I know this is a tired old question that has been asked with appropriate variations here many times, but . . .

There's a fridge in that picture?
