Interesting "Time Capsule" Kitchen

No, this isn't for sale.

 

But it is something I found on YouTube, in very good condition for its age. I just love the Black and White appliances. 

 

The most surprising is the dishwasher. Whilst it is Kenmore branded, inside it almost exactly resembles a G.E. Potscrubber, 1100, I think?

That oven is NOT clean. Me thinks the DW pump is about had it.

The horrid crackling sound from the DW pump seems to stop after it gets its complement of water.

Skipping back to the 1990s...

 

Overall, the appliances didn't look in too bad of shape for their age.  If able and allowed to do it's job, that WP oven should clean up nicely.  WP lift-top electrics have always been one of the easier coil ranges to get clean and to keep clean.

 

Removing the scrap heap from the dishwasher pump would improve audio inspection, but the typical homeowner will get a price to repair it,  pay the service call and toss the entire machine into a scrap heap ASAP without a second thought.  I would. 

 

I brought home one of those GE built dishwashers with the filtering system with a similar sound, mine was simply a penny in one of the pump chambers.  With a full charge of water, the coin was held against the chamber wall and silent.

Although the DW is branded as a Kenmore once you open it and look inside you can definitely tell that GE had their hands in it. As for the noise it's making at the beginning of the cycle it sure sounds like something is rattling around down in the sump area causing that racket.

And how in the world can you stand there and say that the stove is in "MINT" condition when the inside of the oven looks like that! Run it thru the cleaning cycle first before you start taking pictures.

The oven in the range-ACK!!!And he says its mint???Clean up the oven before you film it!!The dishwasher sounded like it was BREAKING the dishes rather than washing them.The second video sounded a little better-but you could still hear traces of the rattly grinding noises in the pump.Service the machine before you film it!!Glad he isn't trying to sell these appliances-'fraid no one would buy them after seeing them in his video clips.Why doesn't he use the ice maker in the 'fridge?Does it work?And another thing--before you start a filming session--CHARGE THE BATTERY IN YOUR CAMERA!!!

AAAARRRRRGGGGG!! That Kenmore dishwasher is the same one that we had. It lasted about 18 months before the trim around the door started to fall off of it. At three years it self destructed by dumping the wash water into the motor with a most generous display of fireworks! The biggerst POS appliance we ever owned. It was replaced with a MOL Maytag which I am sure is still running today.

When we moved into this house it had all Kenmore Appliances. They too are all gone now and have been replaced with Maytag/GE.

I refuse to categorize anything from the 1990s as being vintage or 'from a time capsule.' I've barely come to terms with turning 55, LOL.

I think the brands in this kitchen are unimportant as most of it is M.P.C. (Modern Plastic Crap) anyway . . .

Who made that Kenmore Dishwasher? Was it D&M?

The Dishwasher seems to be a G.E Potscrubber 1100 on the inside (Almost TOL Super Racks, Orbital Wash-Arm, Self-Clean Filter). 

 

The way they set up the options though almost make the machine higher end than the GE counterpart it was produced from. 

 

Whilst the stuff in there is pretty much just almost modern junk, the appliances themselves aren't in too bad of a shape, if you exclude the shape the oven itself is in. A Bit (okay, a ton) of elbow grease or a Self-Clean Cycle would probably fix that.

As for the dishwasher, you can get G.E. pump modules so cheaply these days there is no excuse for it to run like that. Or, you just clean the crap out of the sump.

Looking on the inside of the Kenmore, it looked like the original BOL that we had in this house when we bought it. It had no buttons on the front except for "Heated Dry" on or off and the cycle knob which just said "Start" and "Off". Now that machine lasted for 14 years without incident. It was noisier than hell, but it did clean dishes.

There is nothing classier than a black and white check floor. I would like to know what they use on those appliances to keep them so clean and glossy?
I had that same dishwasher but it was branded Eatons' Viking. The dishwasher in the video looks like it has a filter in the back?
The one I had didn't. The DM dishwasher it replaced was amazing compared to this thing. You could load the Viking and it held everything, just don't expect anything to be clean on the top rack.
I kept the dishwasher for 14 months. As soon as I started working at Sears, the Viking was booted to the Sally Ann and replaced by an Ultra wash. It is still going strong.
