This is my new GE dishwasher, crammed as full as I could get it. Three days worth of plates, saucers, bowls (some of which have dried oatmeal gook on them), cups, silverware, etc, as well as the dishes I used to make chimichangas and rice. The plates were used for that dinner two nights in a row as well as a couple from lasagna two days ago, so quite a dirty load.

I feel like I was able to get quite a bit in here, though suggestions for improvement in loading would of course be appreciated. I know the top rack could hold more if it weren't for those cup lids taking up half a row, but I'm not sure where else to put them. All of our cups are lidded because two disabled people and spills and yeah.

Also, I apologize if the picture quality isn't great. I took three from different angles, so hopefully all three together give you guys an idea of what's all in this DW and whether it's loaded effectively/efficiently.

So, appnut/Bob, what do you think? Bobload or no, and if no, suggestions for improvement?

The DW is currently washing on auto sense cycle, no extra options, so we'll see how it turns out.

If it's not it's pretty darn close. I've ran loads smaller than this... Sometimes I really impress myself when I have more dishes or stuff that can't possibly fit yet I've magically made it fit...with failing to make something fit only a rare few times...and ended up washing it by hand..

Ryne- We absolutely have the same dishwasher, except mine is portable. I’ve been very impressed with performance, especially in the 48-minute Light cycle, which is what I use almost exclusively. Even grungy cookware has been coming clean using Cascade Platinum with Dawn pacs in softened water. What remains to be seen is how reliable these Haier-based machines will be.

Hey Eugene! Yes, I noticed on the day you made a thread about your machine that it's the exact portable version of mine. We even acquired them on the same day I believe. For me, it's the DW my apartment complex replaced my dying Frigidaire with as it was the only one available that would fit under my lower-than-average countertop.

Like you, I feel my DW cleans very well. I personally use the auto sense cycle and it's ranged from 90 minutes up to just under 2 hours with a huge dirty load. I'll have to try the light cycle though and see how it does. Unfortunately, I have really hard water, which you don't seem to have, so I imagine that would affect things to some degree.

The only thing I'm not crazy about with my machine is the rack layout, especially on the bottom. The tines seem really short and that causes my large dinner plates to lean into each other really bad. I've found that placing smaller dessert plates/saucers in between the larger plates helps with this somewhat. It doesn't seem to affect cleaning performance at all, but I'm wondering if you've run into the same problem and might have a different idea when it comes to dealing with this. I feel like it somewhat affects how much can be placed into the DW.

Overall, I'm very pleased. For an apartment-supplied DW, it's very good.

Pat, I didn't see your reply up there, sorry about that.

Cleaning performance is great. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the bottom rack design. I don't like the short tines, makes plates lean a lot. Compensated somewhat by slipping smaller plates in between the larger ones. It's not a perfect solution, but it does help stabilize things. Other than that, it's a solid machine. I use the auto cycle almost exclusively. No complaints really.

Ryne totally agree about the bottom racking. It could have been better thought out.

I don't like that it has a dedicated spot for the silverware basket. My regular dishes and cutting boards fit fine in there.

You can't really load too many odd sized things in there on the bottom. I guess I'll have to learn dishwasher Origami.

I like the Deep top rack that it has, but to adjust it, you have to pull it out of its rack glides and that can be cumbersome.

Overall it's a great cleaner and I find I can get by with the 48 minute light wash cycle. At least that cycle has 2 post rinses.

If I do autosense and it senses, the load is not that dirty. It will only do one final rinse. Not too crazy about that.

If it senses the load is dirty it will do 4 prerinses and 3 post rinses. Some of my glasses are etching already. Crazy.

Does your model have the detergent dispenser that flips open or the newer design that slides open? Mine slides open.

Jerome this GE has wash arms that are almost identical looking to the ones Bosch used in their previous generation.

Both arms run at the same time with this machine which is also great. It uses enough water. The loudest part of this machines is the spraying action. It actually sounds quite forceful.
