Is this a Hobart Kitchenaid or not..

I cant tell if this is a real Hobart or not..I got one of those Half and half and it fell apart and want one like I used to have.I have tried asking these folks who own it and they have no clue what I am talking about.The Pic is not great and I just can't tell....Thanks Wes

I had a circa '85 TOL KitchenAid which looked quite a bit like this one, although I don't remember quite that many pushbuttons. I think mine was a Hobart-based machine, as it heated the water before the first wash began, and had the classic Soak and Scrub cycle behaviors.

I also believe someone told me that my machine was probably one of the last of the Hobart crop. This one looks a year or two newer than the one I had, so I'm going to vote that it's Whirlpool-based.

Hopefully, one of the KitchenAid dishwasher experts will weigh in and give you a more solid answer. And while you're here, KA expert, can you confirm that my machine was a Hobart? Sorry, but I don't remember the model number. I'm trying to remember when I purchased it---I think it was shortly after my mom passed away in April of '85. That was SO many brain cells ago, LOL.

That looks to be a KUDS22, the model I bought in 1992. It has some Whirlpool flavoring (reversing motor) but otherwise is largely Hobart. 4-way HydroSweep, upper arm, but no constant rinse. Heats the 1st fill to 140°F on Normal and Soak/Scrub, not on Light/China or Quick/Glass. Has one rinse, preceded by a purge/flush. Soak/Scrub runs three washes, with the 1st & 2nd heated to 140°F. A good machine, my sister is using it now.

That appears to be a KUDS22. The idea of "Hobart" or "Whirlpool" seems hazy to me; my idea of a Hobart machine is one that runs continuously and has a drain solenoid, with no reversing motor, but then, I've been told that Hobart designed the reversing-motor pump used in the 21 series that Whirlpool carried forward through the 22.

Anyhow, this is a very deluxe, extremely quiet machine that has Soak 'n Scrub and also heats the water before starting the wash. It has a reversing motor design and microfilter; it does a purge to clean itself before the rinse. I miss mine--it was simply amazing, and I loved the rapid-advance timer and indicator lights.

I like the ones that have the Real disposer in the bottom of it and the models that were before that.I don't want a Kitchenaid with the Power clean wash system in it.Now dont get me wrong the Power clean wash is a great system but I love the Kitchenaids with the 1/2 H.p. motor in it and the stainless steel wash arms.I had a 1984 Kitchenaid superba dishwasher and it could wash anything.I have never had the older models with the overhead rinse but will someday.These are hard to find around here.I am just sick of what they are doing to dishwashers now days taking hours and hours to wash.I know it makes sense for the makers the more it runs the more it will break.Now Whirlpool has gone to the filter type and the motor's are push 12 gallons a min unlike 50 and 60 gallons for the old ones.

Wes, I wouldn't pass this up. nate is extremely hard on dishwashers of what he expects them to clean and he loved his as well as DADoES loved his. This ain't nuttin to sneeze at. Combo52 will tell ya (the excellent repairman he is) these have the best of both KA & PowerClean in it.

The 22 series does have the stainless steel 4-arm HydroSweep. It may very well have a 1/2 HP GoldSeal motor. Warranty info is on the back cover of the manual. I didn't scan the back cover, and my sister has the manual now. I left a message just now for her to check if she can find the manual. The only thing IMO that would made it a better machine is adding the Constant Rinse shower.

Confirmed. Sister called back, warranty covers the 1/2 HP motor for 5 years.

KDS22 for sure!

All those buttons says it is the 22 series. Now remember that WP kept the Hobart design of the tank and wash system thru the 22 but changed to the power clean pump in the 23 series. The power clean module is nothing to sneeze at but it lacked the stainless steel disposer that made the 21 and 22 series unique among all the rest of the machines out there.
I am using a KDS21M as a daily driver and haven't had one dish or cup or glass ever come out dirty no matter what cycle I use.
It was one of the last 21s built and has that heavy duty bituminous padding all over the tank..top, sides and bottom! So it is probably the quietest machine they ever had.
I hate the single rinse these machines have but I have not had a problem with soap or rinse agent residue at all.

When we left NY, I left a 22 series in the kitchen which we liked very much too.

My Favorite one had the heater down there in the hole right around the filter and the blower was all metal and had elements to heat the air and there was a metal outlet that the air came out.The next one looked just like it but the water heater was larger and not in the sump and there was some other things differnt also..I think the Hobart K/A D/W stopped the washer to heat the water the other one didnt I think. I guess I will go look at it there asking 150 for it,that dishwasher better not have one spec of rust and the racks better be perfect.My last one was a half and half and fell apart fast compared to my first one.That seems high priced to me..

All Superbas had the Sure-Temp water heating. The machine paused and heated the water until it reached 140 degrees. No pumping took place. All lower models in the line had automatic water heating where the water circulation continued during the main wash phase and heated the water for up to 15 minutes before the timer advanced again. Personally, I think it would have been even better if it had continued circulating the the water (and washing) while it heated the water. (I've also heard Tomturbomatic and Combo52 make the same obseervations).

So this dishwasher should have the metal disposer in it?I thought that was so cool because it was a disposer not a blender blade.I remember the adds on T.V. where they would throw a cake in it and they said that it has a hard food disposer that can handle a olive pit.Does anybody know how much it pumped a minute in gallons?I have a old G.E. advert that shows its features and it has a axial flow pump that can push 53 or so gallons a min.I have never seen a G.E. with the 1/3 H.p. pump all I have seen are the ones with the sidewinder's but G.E. dishwasher's still can clean pretty good even now.I want a wall of water and I care not how loud it is,I jammed the button on one of thoese new Whirlpool dishwasher's and I could pee harder than the water comes out of the arms.
