Hello all, been a while since I last posted.
My '58 Frigidaire that I've had for about a decade now is giving me an issue where the compressor won't stop running unless I put the thermostat to the "OFF" position or almost to the "OFF" position. There are five different settings on the thermostat, "A" , "B", "1", "2" and "3", "A" being the warmest and "3" being the coldest. Problem is, when I put the thermostat in the area between the "OFF" and "A" setting to get the compressor to turn off so it won't freeze everything in the fridge, it won't come back on and anything beyond that area the compressor continuously runs freezing everything in the fridge. At this point it seems that my thermostat is an ON / OFF switch. I'm confused and annoyed to say the least.
A little bit of background, this fridge was my daily for about 8 years, worked with no issues, I moved, had it in storage for a while, plugged it back in about three days ago and it's been acting up since.
Any ideas what could be going wrong?
I read that there could be an adjustment for the thermostat (referred to as the "Cold-Control switch" in the manual) if you move to an area that's at a different altitude (which I did, higher to be clear) but the manual did not go into detail on how to do that. If that's a possibility, anyone know what the procedure is?
Thanks for reading.
