"Engineers have spent 15 years perfecting the £160 Magimix Vision Toaster, which has double insulated clear glass on both sides giving a panoramic view of each slice as it cooks.

They had to find away to cook the bread in the toaster without using traditional metal elements which obscured the bread."

I'd like one but they need to come down in price a lot!

omg not aging. I had this one it was a fire starter and a pain in the rump. I am now scared of glass toasters. lol

Is there a reason why an ordinary toaster-oven (with an interior light) is unsatisfactory?

Horizontal bread versus vertical bread doesn't seem like an endeavor worth 15 years of one's life.

Pretty close to a toaster that's been out for a few years - the Arize. I bought one in a blow-out sale at the local supermarket for $15. Tried it a few times; now it's back in the original box in storage. Pretty, but worthless for anything but standard machine sliced bread.

Get an old Sunbeam with the radiant control and you would not have to worry about your toast being burnt.....

As I've Said...

...On Geekologie, I think this is doomed to become part of every overprivileged household's stash of Things That Looked Good In Williams-Sonoma.

You know, that pile of high-dollar disappointments that sits in one corner of the four-car garage?

First glass toaster bullshite

Here's my B&D Arize.. I also bought it about 4 years ago clearing out. I paid about $10 for it new in box. I also put it away because it has a nasty habit of setting toast on fire if its anything but store bought thin stuff LOL

Yes, it set my home-baked bread slices ablaze as well. Maybe they should have named, it, "Ablaze" instead of "Arize".

Other than that, it is quite entertaining the first couple of times watching it slowly lower and then slowly raise the toast. Just wish it was more practical.

I'm with Elwood.

When I think of all the taken-for-granted humble stuff that has made my life wonderful, toast is near the top of the list. I used to work at a restaurant where the dishwasher and I would come in early in the morning. I would make Angel and me toast every morning and his face would just light up and he'd exclaim, "TOACE!!!".
