Careful with these. Lady in my office had hers stolen right out of the office parking lot, in a great neighborhood.
Most of all she was upsetd that directions to "HOME" were in there.........

These electronic gismo just make people focus on everything but driving and I'm
fed up getting behind these creeps and that not staying focus on doing one thing right and that is moving forward!
I drive for a living and if it was left up to me, the cars on the road will be free from all electric distration including radios.
Pay attention and there will be less accidents!

Larry, you are so right. On 7/1/08 a new law will take effect in California requiring hands-free devices when using a cell phone while driving. It's not going to improve the situation one bit. People who dial & drive are on another planet, oblivious to what is happening around them or the hazard they are creating for other drivers, and the last thing on their agenda is the business and responsibility of driving.
I wish there would have been bans placed on dialing and driving nationwide before this got out of hand, but the horse is long gone from the barn on this issue.

Actually it has been proven that these things improve safety, especially when people are driving in unknown territory. No problems with reading maps, guessing which turn is the right one etc. etc.
I have a Tomtom, don't use it very often, but when I use it I find it very convenient. You can concentrate much better on driving.

Texting while driving is sheer lunacy. Well, texting in and of itself strikes me as far too cumbersome. My fingers are too big anyway. The practice of texting while driving is more common among youngsters who don't realize that there are limits to just how many activities can be included in their multi-tasking. In my book, it's an addictive behavior.
It's interesting that the alphabet that appears on the telephone's dial or touchpad has taken on an entirely new role from that for which it was originally intended.

It may done some good on the other side of the pond, but here in the States there are plenty of nuts hehind the wheel,
book smart but lack of common sense. And it does not matter if you male or female!

you are so right, I was training a new Sanitation worker two or three months ago and he was doing that while driving my vehicle
and I told him to stop and put it away. I don't care if you are from Ohio to New Mexico, that kind of driving is extreamly dangerous.
And we have the same law and our Police Dept. are one of the greatest offender.....

After reading his name, I am going to have to bite my tongue regarding the driver of that vehicle in the link you provided--classic Sunnyvale for sure--but this is a perfect example of people who lack any sense of their surroundings while driving (or in the check-out line for that matter), regardless of whether or not they are dialing, texting, or relying on a less-than-perfect GPS when mapping it out before leaving the house would have done the trick.
