Jam Handy Frigidaire Training/Sales Set

I just won this on ebay. This system, from the 1950s, was also used for old automobile training and sales filmstrips. I have a few and bought it for that reason, but this set is nice because it is an old gizmo of the type that I like, and the filmstrips are about old appliances! There is one about Frigidaire's automatic washer (and one about how it is built), one about their dryer, and one about their ironer - the mangle type perhaps? Can't wait to receive this and see. There are also filmstrips about their ranges, refrigerators, and water heaters. If I can figure out how to convert these to a multimedia format that I can post, I'll do so for everyone's enjoyment. Any advice on how to do this would be appreciated (my computer technical knowledge is not very good).

Wow David - what a find! Not only do you now have a projector - but it has the ability to play 16 inch records! Earlier this summer, I had bought out the remainder of stock from a retired Maytag dealer. The gem that sealed the deal was the exact same case that you just won on eBay, minus the projector. While the Frigidaire filmstrips that were in the case are from 1940 and about ranges and refrigerators, there were multiple records and filmstrips for the Maytag 60W Dryer, and the Maytag A2MP and A3MP!!! While I do have a standard filmstrip projector, I do not have a transcription table to play the large plater records.

Unless the turntable has an output of some sort, any recording of the audio would need to be done probably via a microphone. You could take a digital camera, and while using a tripod, take photos of each frame. Using a simple movie program, you can match up each 'frame' or photo to the recorded mic input. It would take some time, but be so worth it to see how the GM dealers pitched the sale of a brand new Unimatic!

I have three of these Frigidaire training kits and bought a Magnavox Illustravox projector and large platter record player combo to use with them. The filmstrips are so much fun - we had a gathering here several years ago and watched several of them, including one about "How the Frigidaire Unimatic is Made" with a photo-tour of the factory!

Ben, I'd love to see the Maytag filmstrips sometime - I'll bet they are awesome!
