I thought I was the only one interested in washing machines and appliances. Growing up I new every make of washing machines in the neighborhood. I was embarassed by my interest, but I could not control it.
I want to say Thank You for all of the welcomes. I am very fortunate that I have an understanding wife about my collecting anything to do with laundry. My wife collects chairs, china and we both enjoy antique furniture.
Growing up my mom and her aunt never said anything about my interest in laundry. I knew my dad didnt understand any of it. My favorite memories was in the 1950's when we would go to my aunts house and help her do laundry for the sleeping rooms she rented out to the soldiers and their wives. We spent the entire day in the basement. My aunt had a Mongomery Ward wringer with concrete laundry tubs. When it was time to hang the sheets out my mom would put around my neck this huge clothes pin bag my aunt had made and I would run up and down the clothes lines handing them to mom and my aunt. The sheets had to be out before nine and ironed and back on the bed before evening. It was a real operation she had going. I have the old Montgomery Ward iron my aunt bought in 1940 and used during this time. The iron is still in use today. I could go on and on. Its great to find there are other individuals that have the same interest. Most of all it's OK. Thanks Again
Welcome to the fold! If we had a nickel for every time a newbie to AW.ORG said "I thought I was the only one who loved washers!", we'd have $14.75 in the bank.
There's a lot of video to see at this site, so take it all in and enjoy.
