I've learned the wash arm in my KDI-16 is not turning. A repairman has told me this is because the wash arm support is sitting loosely in the drain unit. He said it should fit tightly. I have not been able to find a replacement for it. Wonder if I can re-seat it using epoxy? And if so, how far into the drain unit should it be placed?

Less than specific!

What did he tell you? Did he mean that the support pin fell down and was sitting above the wash impeller? The wash arm support is screwwed to the pump housing and can only fit in one way and there is no adjustment for the height of it. I have seen the pins loosen up and drop.
IIRC, these were splined shafts that were press fit into the plastic housing. you can probably epoxy it back in place and the unit should work fine again. I have seen these supports sold in various places like eBAY and some of the larger parts distribuitors like Marcone and Repair clinic.

Also, check the washarm itself. There is a bronze bushing in it that goes over the pin sticking up from the support. If there was no wear washer on that pin, the thin plastic that enclosed the bushing would wear away and the the bushing would get pushed out of the top causing severe wobbling and potentially no turning action on the wash arm. If that is the case and you can find the bushing, you can epoxy it in buit do add a stainless steel washer over the shaft and then put the wash arm back. If not, you will need a new arm.
Hope this helps more than the repair guy did!

the wash arm support doesn't

"sit" on or in the drain unit. it is the top half of the pump and bolts to the bottom half. the hydrosweep wash arm spins on it.

i know they had them on e bay last week for about 16 bucks. i have bought about 4 or 5 over the last 2 years. unless i am wrong (stevet will know) the ones listed will fit the 16 and 17 models only. i have used them on some of my 17's.

it's an easy fix if you buy one. it bolts on with 4 simple little bolts. the hydrosweep just slides on it's spindle as you probably already know.

i know that some of mine have gotten sticky and not turned freely due to crud build up in the center bearing of the hydrosweep itself. after i cleaned it out good with steel wool the hydrosweeps turned freely again.

for 16 bucks plus shipping a new wash arm support is not a bad idea and hopefully will solve your problem.

you can also find hydrosweeps on e bay too. i bought one new last year, never used for about 20 bucks!

good luck with it!
