Per the ad: "I bought this a year ago still in the shipping container. It is old but was brand new and never used. I have used it for a year or less. It works great. Because of my well water there is a stain on right side on the inside. The pump is what Hobart uses in the industrial dishwashers it makes today. This is an amazing well built dish washer. The pump costs more than I am listing it for."

I bought that machine Brand New in 1981. That was my first KitchenAid.

The No Heat Dry worked OK on the Soak and Scrub Cycle. But all and all.. a fantastic cleaner. If I had the technological wisdom, hooking up a heated blow dryer from a 17 series, You'd basically have a KDS-20.

The cycles were different on the 20 as far as sequence goes.

These were very good machines, they actually dry better than the KDS-17A and the KDS-18 do when you use those on the Energy-Saver no heat drying setting.

 

This machine heats the final rinse to 150F and then uses a much more powerful blower than the other aforementioned models so it actually does a better job on air dry. [ yes if you want to squander 1/2 KW of power using heated dry on the other models with heated dry the dishes will be dryer when you open the door after a run ] But I am perfectly willing to let the dishes finish air-drying to save the power and extra damage to the machine that heat drying causes.

 

If you want even better automatic drying from a KDS-19 use the sani-rinse option that raises the final rinse to 165F, using Soak&Scrub will not make any difference in the drying unless maybe you are operating the machine on cold water, LOL

My family had the KDS19 and if you used the jetdry it dried just fine - these machines were build ahead of their time. I think it would have been better if they made these models with stainless steel tubs!

Well Soak and Scrub worked for me. And I even owned a Hot Water heater back then.,
