I have this Kenmore Dryer (Model 110.7108801) that I took apart and cleaned/restored with new parts where necesary. I never tried it first before I received it since I don't have a 30AMP outlet in my garage where I did all the work, so I don't know whether it worked or not. Does anyone know the sequence of the light on the console? Does it come on only when the dryer door is shut? Does it go on when the start button is pushed and stay on for the duration of the cycle? I had to disconnect/reconnect some wires, I took before pics so I know everything is connected right. Just want to make sure I know how the light should work once I plug it in. Thanks

The light will come on when you turn the timer knob from the "off" position to timed or auto-dry and will stay on while running.

I had '73 - 800 dryer for a while, but I can't remember if it did this or if I'm confusing it with another model... when it's off, the control panel light (may) come on when you open the door as well.

Check the position of the wires in the door switch. If the light is on when the door closed, the wires are probably on the wrong terminals.

I hope this helps!

Kevin

P.S... beautiful dryer!

I too have a 1971 KM 800 dryer (actually, a matched set).

My drum light only comes on when the door is opened. The console light comes on when the dial is at any position other than "off."

I have a green 1971 KM dryer in pieces if anyone wants it!

It's a good dryer. Fast, reliable, and it has a good auto-cycle. It seems to run a bit on the warm side, but I sometimes grab things before it goes into cool-down.
