This looks like it's one of the original ultrawash models.

If this is one of the first ultra-wash models, would this be the transition from D&M to WP?

Agiflow, yes. The UltraWash models were the toe testing the water so to speak. That was around 1983 or early 1984 because I remember sitting in my neighbor's living room looking at the catalog. Oh, it was christmas 1983.

Yes Appnut, i seem to remember these too. The door latch on this machine is the same as the one on my quietwash.

I liked these early models.

I particularly like the "Sears * Best" versions of these--all push button rapid advance timer and the delay wash thumb-wheel on the panel allowing delay start for any cycle. also separate buttons for hot wash & hot rinse options.

i also liked the older whirlpool/kenmore "powerclean module" wash systems. I remember everything being cleaned spotless with the "water heat/hi-temp wash" option selected.
