I have a kenmore elite catalyst and the smaller load sizes does slow agitation instead of fast on the heavy duty cycle on the smaller water levels and the normal cycle it does extra slow agitation instead of slow agitation on the normal cycle with the smaller water levels is that normal or do i need to replace a part such as the board or something??? Lmk please id love to have help with this

this is standard. On electronic controlled shredmores, the lower water levels automatically reduced the normal aitation speed to the next slower one as a means of protecting fabrics.

the direct drives I'd assume are pretty violent on low water levels. my previous washer, a norgetag would violently splash water if you filled it anything below medium, coating the lid in a thin layer of suds...

High-speed agitation isn't necessary on majority of loads in a DD ... unless it's a FULL load (which I rarely see anyone fill a DD to their capable capacity) or very dirty/sturdy fabrics.  Better results are garnered by allowing detergent enzyme more time to work with moderate or slow agitation for a longer wash period and/or with a soak.

Cycle/option chart I made years ago for my WP Catalyst.
