Very Nice FInd Graham

I love the timer....has a Barometer look to it.

Man how I love those hanging in peoples hallways.
Very naff yet cool.

make them an offer.

try showing up with 150 cash...

I'd say go for it.

It has nice lines. Love that porcelain top. It's fairly plain, though, and not really the most glamorous machine you may ever own. I don't think it has anything but timed dry with a thermostat to control heat in the hot or hotter zones, you'll find.

If you need a machine to play you a song when it's done, or to think for itself, this may not be for you. It IS most like what I remember us having before we got the '68 Lady Kenmore, though.

Holla from Hollywood.

Very Nice!

What a beauty! And it is Gas. Very cool. I love Gas Dryers, esp. this vintage.
I agree with Bob, show up with $150 and see what if they take it. No matter what you offer, even $120 for example, they will counter it with $10 - $20 on top of that.
Let us know what you decide to do.

Trade

I will buy it regardless if someone wants to trade me it for a Westinghouse 40's-50's front loader in working condition! :)
My shameless plug!!

That's the model my family once owned

That's the exact model my father bought for me in the late '60's when I kept complaining about hanging the wash in the backyard. I recall he paid 50 dollars for the machine and he hooked up a gas line in the garage. It ran quite hot but it got the clothes dry. It was only timed dry, but the small knob on the left controlled the temperature (I think it had "cool," which I believe was the "air only" setting.)
It was replaced several years later with another Kenmore--this one a "slant back" model my mother bought on clearance at Sears for about $120. Those were the days!

Got It!!

Well, i just bought it for $150 plus tax. It now resides in my basement along side its siblings; a 71' Imperial 80 Whirlpool Washer, 70' Sears Kenmore 800 Dryer, and 40-50's Bendix. Not bad for a being a colletor for only a month. YAY.

I was scouting the back of the appliances stores today and spotted a center dial Maytag pair in white. Should i skoop them up or not. They look like later models. Do these panels light up?

Find out the Model #'s

A lighted console Maytag washer will be an A806. You can tell by the glass panels on either side of the timer. The non lighted models have a solid white textured metal panel.

Good Luck. Maytags are fun!
