Kenmore Help..

Hi Everyone,
So my 90 series Kenmore fills up with water then wont advance into the cycle, do you all think the timer is bad?

Model # and age of machine will help. Does it normally agitate with the lid up? If not, could be a bad lid switch.

Kenmore problems,

here is the update, the washer fills and agitates but it will not advance into the next cycle, it just keeps agitating

Thats not a valid model/serial number. However it sounds like your lid switch is broken. It will fill, wash but it will stop when its time for drain/spin. The model number should begin with 110.XXXXXXXXXXX

Are you sure the first letter is not a 'C' instead of 'S'? I am not familiar precisely with the year letters, but in your case it's an 'M'. I have a machine with a C for the year, which is 1993. I believe that 'I' was skipped, but I am wondering if 'M' is for 2002?

Sounds like the timer is bad if the machine operates but the timer doesen't advance.

Sounds like a bad timer. Does it not drain and spin but keeps agitating through the spin cycle, or does it stop agitating but doesn't drain or spin; just sits there like it's off? If it's the 1st scenario, sounds like a bad timer. Second scenario would be a faulty lid switch assembly.

I had that happen to my Kenmore 90 Series which I bought in 1999. It wound up being the coupler.

Sorry for the wrong numbers, im getting them via txt mssg from someone at home. the washer will fill agitate then stop unless you advance the timer into the spin cycle or rinse, so everything works just wont advance, I just replaced the motor coupler this summer, its model 110.20922990 ser # CK2303018111

If everything works on the machine but the timer won't advance on it's own, there is little doubt that you have a timer issue.

How old is this machine? Does it have the Triple Dispenser system? 2 speed motor or 3 speed motor? Does the timer have terminals? What is the part number on the timer? Do you have a picture of the machine?

The timer part number for your washer is 3953248 according to Sears. This appears to be the original part number (which makes things easier vs. substitutions).

Sears wants $109 for it. I found some on ebay, all cheaper. Just search the part number and you'll find them too. The cheapest is $75 with free shipping (that's good for a timer). These are remanufactured/rebuilt. There is another for $79.99 that is genuine Whirlpool and new.

Other than that, you can go to appliance re-sellers and see if they have a model like that in their parts dump and if so, perhaps you can buy a used timer.
