Is your black Lady Kenmore a belt-drive or a direct drive?

You cannot put a belt-drive agitator such as a Roto-Swirl into a direct drive, the DD's agitator shaft is not long enough. However, if your machine is a belt-drive, a Roto-Swirl from a standard capacity machine will work. I presume your machine is large capacity. Standard capacity agitators from BDs fit into large capacity BD washers, but they are undersized for the application. Full water levels, especially in the original large capacity tubs, are too high for the standard agitators, but they do work and fit.

I would doubt that if you even tried to switch out the agitators, provided it could be possible, that the machine would be able to keep the water inside the tub once it starts agitating. Plus with the added stress to the machine itself would be substantial. The size of the fins between the 2 styles is quite different between the two. Your clothes would definitely be ripped to shreds.

Why do you want to switch out the agitator?

the only way to get more kick out of a DD is to install a KA large base agitator....

some claim its to much stress for high speed and the tranny....but I have never had an issue....your mileage may vary

and I had this exact model of the "LIMITED", The 'Normal" cycle gave the best results, slower agitation speed and high speed spinning.....

but using the 'HeavyDuty' cyle, turned the water into a major tidal wave
