Our 2006 Kenmore Range (Frigidaire) has a control board problem. Door lock light stays on. You can set time but it goes blank. No other buttons work, oven will not heat. When this started door lock was buzzing, I guess trying to lock. We unplugged and plugged back in and buzzing stopped. I took control board out and took it apart to see if I could spot weak solder joints, but no such luck. We can buy a new board but wanted to ask if board can be reset. I plan to unplug all wiring from board and just use the burners temporarily. Used board is about $90 and we can get a newer range on Craigslist for about $200.

Did you set it for clean for the first time in a long time? I had close to the same range do this when I set it to clean for the first time in a year. It quit because it got stuck trying to lock. I took the back off and helped the lock assembly move and it’s worked fine since.

as per above. On our previous KA stove, after years of use and having never used the self clean cycle I did one day. It locked and cleaned but at the end of the cycle it would not unlock. The control panel did nothing. Had to get it unlocked from the back/inside to get the stove working again.

Thanks

Thanks for the great responses. Now, I am pretty sure it is not the control board. This is a slide in range and the lock mechanism is not on the back, darn it. I took off the back and also the pan under the burners and still did not get to the lock mechanism. I think it is under a panel behind the oven door at the top the oven. I was unable to remove the screws this a.m. Since I had already removed an put back about 20 screws. I disconnected the board so we can use the burners not worrying about the oven going on or the lock making noise. By the way the oven door was able to open at all times. I do not know if someone pushed the clean button.

Found Diagram

I found the diagram of the stove body. The latch is under the panel under the burners and I will have to take it apart again. If I can do this and reset the door latch and reset the switch then never use the self clean. Or I can get a new latch motor but do not want to spend the money on this stove.

Took it apart again

I was able to access the latch motor and switch. I got it to not show a locked light and not buzz, but not sure what I really did except fool around with it. I hope it stays. Oven and Broiler now work. Clock works but does not show time continually like it should. Leave it alone for now. Do not know if the switch push button indicates locked or unlocked, button currently is not pushed in.
