After helping Dave's daughter and son-in-law with their new house by tending to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and appliance projects, I've become their fix-it man for lesser issues.
The latest involves the exterior chute for the ice dispenser on their +/- 2009 Kenmore model 106.5736*700 (or 5737*) side by side.
On the outside, the clear plastic section of the chute seems to be in place, but the flap assembly that closes the the chute appears to be detached and loose, dangling down into the clear plastic portion. It's likely an easy fix, but I can't even figure out how to remove the dispenser panel trim piece. There are no visible screws. It doesn't seem like it wants to be pried off.
I'm fairly certain that the repair will happen behind the dispenser panel and not from inside the door, but advice on how to attack this would be welcomed.
In the attached diagram, it appears the front of the panel might lift up and then off. Can anyone advise if I'm on the right track? I couldn't find a picture of this refrigerator anywhere on line and can't even be sure that the diagram is the correct one for it, but am thinking it may be close enough.
Apologies in advance if the Sears parts site allows you to go have a sandwich while it finishes loading. It might just be my aging laptop, but it slowed everything to a crawl.
