Hi Guys,

On Sunday I picked up a white Model 9 Mixmaster which is in very nice condition. I promised to take in a Chocolate Sponge and a Pavlova to work today, so I figured I'd give the Sunbeam a go.

In the Kenwood, I can put 6 eggwhites in, with a pinch of salt, beat until foamy (usually 1.5 minutes) and then gradually add 1.5 cups of caster sugar. From there is usually takes 7-10 minutes on high, until I have super stiff peaks, a nice shiney mixture, with just the tinyiest bit of undisolved sugar remaining. No scraping of the bowl is required.

In the Mixmaster, I followed the same method, 6 eggwhites, pinch of salt, beat until foamy (2-3 mins) gradually add 1.5 cups of caster sugar. From there it took almost 25 minutes on high, I had to keep scraping the bowl, and whilst at 25 minutes it was glossy and the sugar was perfectly dissolved, I still didnt have really stiff peaks. The mixture was solid, but no where near as stiff as in the Kenwood.

Has anyone else found this to happen, when you go from a device with a planetary path, to a device with twin beaters and a moving bowl?

The only issue with the mixer so far, is there is a green oily substance, that keeps ejecting itself when running and hot from the oil filler hole, just behind the juicer attachment stem. What does that mean, and where else should I lubricate?

I've taken some pics, but I'll be running late for work if I dont get a wriggle on, so I'll post em tonight.

Best Wishes,

Nathan
