I remember reading about copper inserts for Kitchenaid mixers years ago, and bought one at a thrift store yesterday. I do not see any markings on it that say "Kitchenaid," however. It measures 8" diameter from lip to lip. It is about 6 3/4" tall. It has a lot of patina and looks old. From the shape, I think it is from a bowl lift model. Does anyone know how many different models of the copper inserts were made? Can anyone make a guess which mixers this would work on? I have an 8 quart Commercial Kitchenaid mixer, and I am wondering if I bought a shorter whisk attachment if I could use it on my mixer.

I am in Santa Monica and will be home tomorrow to check. Since I had some extra time, I made this post early:)

I have the same bowl insert and use it often.  It fits perfectly into the large bowl of my tilt head KA. Unless it's a good fit in your larger machine I don't think it will work.

Mine stays nice and shinny by running it through the DW with Cascade platinum pods, does the same to my copper bottomed pots too.

Mine looks to be similar size, fits perfectly into my Hobart KA 5 qt. bowl-lift.  Whipping egg whites is magical in the copper bowl.  The best angel food cakes, ever.

I found a newer Pro 600 in Copper on CL a while back, swept away by the gleam, I figured I'd be less than happy with the mixer itself but have come to really like it a lot.

There are companies that still make copper accessories for some models, dearly priced of course, but can still be had.

Wow, that is a beautiful bowl.

I've had mine for about 25 or 30 years, believe I paid $50-60 for it back then.  I don't know for sure but believe the eggs beat up better when the bowl is gleaming copper, used to polish it, now just pop it in the DW.
