Why did Whirlpool Kitchen Aid dishwashers with only one final rinse wash for 20 minutes 30 seconds after the thermal hold and heater turning off? Latter models that did a purge or second full rinse after the main wash switched to 9 minutes 30 seconds of water circulation post thermal hold in the final rinse.

My question is, how does increased final rinse time compensate for the lack of purge or a second rinse? What is the science behind this? Does it have something to with evaporating the chlorine from the rinse water? Extra time to round up particles due to the lack of carry away?

Latter Purge and Double rinse models are the top listed as 3380945, earlier single rinse only models are at the bottom listed as 9742673.
