I have found my dream kitchen and I wondered if anyone here has had experience in applying the finish technique. I am most drawn to the simplistic color palette.

Yes that's Puerto Rico.

In Puerto Rico not every kitchen has an oven. Few, if any, have a dishwasher.

Furniture bascically has to be cheap and sh*tty laminated particleboad in that the intense heat and never-ending humidty (and termites) will destroy "real" wooden furniture. Lots of metal and glass furniture too.

Buildings are concrete with viny-tile covered concrete floors and have bars on all windows and doors. (drugs, crime, theft pr at least FEAR of same etc.) In my area that is what jails look like.

Personally, I'm thinking more along the lines of multiple and complicated colors, plus wildly varied patterns. That one place is just TOO plain and simple for what I have in mind. With my approach, cleanup becomes a fun challenge. Plus, if one misses a spot--even a spot the size of dinner plate--it'll blend right in, keeping the kitchen looking right!
