The KitchenAid Briva Sink & Dishwasher is a great concept. Originall sold for $2,000, and is only a few years old. However, the dishwasher stopped working and cannot get anyone to work on it, since KitchenAid stopped making it. This would be great for someone that repairs or know of someone that repairs dishwashers.

Versatility and convenience are the hallmarks of KitchenAid's briva dishwasher. The in-sink unit can be used in tandem with a full-size dishwasher or serve as an auxiliary accessory for wet bars, butler's pantries and outdoor kitchens. With a 14-inch-deep stainless steel interior, four wash cycles and an optional water heater (which can decrease wash time to as little as 18 minutes), the briva can accommodate a wide range of loads, from pots and pans to delicate stemware or up to five place settings. Introduced to the market 2001, 2002 area.  Was popular at the time in apartments and such with limited space.

Correction: KA did not stop making it. They stopped importing it and stopped servicing it. Funny that the sellers use the present tense "sells" for x amount when it is no longer sold. The also mention the booster heater as if it were included with the thing for sale. If there were justice, KA should have been forced to take back and refund the price of these when they stopped working and could no longer be fixed

Does anyone remember washing machine ads for WP in the 60s when they said that parts would be stocked for 15 years after the last time they were needed? I do and do not remember the policy with any admiration today.

IIRC there was a law in the '50's and '60's that required auto and white goods manufacturers to maintain an inventory of parts for repair for 20 years. Guess who abolished that?

KA Briva DWs

Were actually built in Ohio [ with quite a few imported parts ] but the entire SS sink etc was fabricated in Ohio. The sales of these were very poor, I dough that many of these ever showed up in apartments.

 

 

The major problem with something different and new like these DWs is you have to make and sell it for more than 3 years and you have to advertise and promote it, it can take consumers a decade  to decide to purchase a different product like this.

 

This was not a DW that you just take home and install where you old DW was, it takes time for consumers to get used to new ideas and decide to buy them.

 

I think that these DWs were a great idea, the only complaint I ever got was the looks, if they were going to have a SS lid it should have been fashioned as a drain board that drained into the left sink or they allowed you to install a section of your counter top material on the lid of the DW that would be flush with the rest of the counter top.

Tom, you are right....the concept was great.  I have a Briva that has given me problems from the beginning.  It was a very expensive novelty.  I wish I had my old sink back!  it takes the entire area underneath the sink and the heater takes another large under sink (or nearby) area/space.   It was okay when it worked properly, but now that it does not, it is going to be very expensive to replace.

If you are asking me Marilyn, I never had it for sale, it was an ad I found and thought to post here in case someone was interested. It may have sold, been trashed or is still out there looking for a buyer, but the link the ad is kaput.
