I was wondering how much water did the K.A. dishwasher's with the cast Iron wash arm push through it per min?I was also wondering are the pumps the same as say the KDS-18..The videos of that look so powerful and there is one for sale here but I am trying to figure if it's worth it.The machine does need some work on it..I have never seen one with that cast arm on it around here.

Someone posted an entire KD 11 owner's manual here recently. I think the verbiage advised that the wash cycle runs the equivalent of 200 gallons of water over the dishes, which works out to the above 40 gal/min. I tried searching for the thread but had no luck.

I recently had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a KD 12P. My advice would be to check the condition of the tub. If it feels rough, the porcelain enamel has been compromised and you're looking at a big job just with that. Seals will also likely need attention, so don't plan on the machine being plug & play.

Those are excellent (and fast!) dishwashers.
Feel how heavy the spray-arm is. That pump is providing so much pressure that it is "levitating" that heavy spray-arm as well as spraying the dishes!`

Thanks for the info..I have a mint condition Frigidare dishwasher it is a 1993 or so and is stainless steel gallery model. The pump has a 1/3 Hp G.E. motor and pumps out 57 gallons a min.Whats cool about it is that it uses the drain impeller for the filtering .The main wash arm lifts up and engages the tower spray.I have a G.E. D/W pump that I am putting it in and that is going to pump the top rack wash arm I got off of ebay and the top small sprayer.I am removing the tower and that is where I am stuck at.What kind of spray arm should I use for it?I want a Plate smasher/Cat 5 Hurricane in the box dishwasher.Would a wash arm from like a Kenmore D/W with the roto rack give me that type of wash that"s like the big blue arm kitchenaid? Thats what I grew up with it was a Kenmore roto rack and remember the wash arm in it.It has about 8 holes in the whole thing or would some other arm work even better that I have not seen?I am so sick of these 12 gallon a min pumps and 4 hour wash. This Frigidare uses close to 13 gallons for the whole wash total which is great. The dishwasher looks great to kinda like a Viking with a dial stainless steel and a towel bar.I hate all these new Filter type D/W and if there was someway I could make it work I would put a full blown disposal in it.It does have a hard food grinder that works good in the W.C.I. Pump and the G.E. pump has there grinder also in it.Anybody have any ideas about which arm would be best?

D&M is good...

My D&M would flip plastic tumblers in the bottom rack unless they were death-gripped between the tines.

The KD-12P flips glasses :-).

It's challenging to not have stuff bouncing around the inside, and not unusual to have things be neatly rearranged from when I loaded the dishwasher and when it finished the cycle.

Bring plates and bowls to test, though. The old KitchenAid (11, 12, etc.) tanks are REALLY tiny.
