I recently bought this dishwasher from another craigslist seller to be used by my elderly parents. I was told by the seller the dishwasher worked just fine. In fact, the seller said they used it the morning I purchased it. However, when I hooked it up the next day, it did not worked at all. After researching this dishwasher brand and model, I discovered that this dishwasher is a rare find and that many are purchased by collectors, whether they work or not. So, I'm selling this non-working work horse classic KitchenAid Imperial 21 Model KDI-21A for $40 OBO. Again, I was not able to get it working, but it may be a simple fix. My loss is your gain!

Oh, that is too bad...

Not sure if you want to save it as it may be a simple fix that someone here in the club can walk you through. Could it be that the plastic door interlock switch got snapped off where it depresses the switch behind the inside of the door to tell the dishwasher the door is closed? It is located at the top of the right hand side of the frame on the front of the tank. If this switch doesn't get pushed in when the door gets closed you will have a non working dishwasher. Best of luck as it looks like it's in very good shape otherwise.

On the button, Patrick

Usually the switch actuator as you described, Patrick, breaks off in transit, install or de-install. I had replied to this thread on the same tach but it somehow did not get posted.
If you cannot locate another actuator, let me know or you can make one out of a 6/32 or 8/32 screw and 2 nuts and install it in the same hole. Had that work for me for about 20 years and sold the machine last year with it still on the machine!
