I picked up a KM DD set to help a elderly lady. The washer makes a ratcheting noise when it is agitating. Not a clunk but a zip, zip, zip, zip, zip, etc. It is the teeth of the dogs because I can hold the top so that it rotates with the bottom and the sound goes away. I had this happen once before after I put brand new dogs in an old Roper DD, but other DD machines do not make the sound.
The dogs appear in very good shape. Teeth on them look normal as do the teeth on the outer ring where they engage.
Would silicone spray quieten them down? I don't think I would want to put silicon grease in there as it would prevent them from moving back and forth freely.
Maybe they need time to mesh with the other side - don't know - just guessing.
Any idea why some washers seem to make this ratcheting sound from agitator and most don't?
