Not another glass percolater...I had to pay a premium for this one yesterday but it was worth it because it's in like new condition and better than that it's white with gold accents and two, not one, light bulbs under the carafe. Just seconds before I snapped the pic one of the light bulbs must have burned out.. but not to worry, because it's a Proctor Silex Lifelong which means it comes apart easily with no tools to fix yourself. This one also has the starbursts on the glass.
I paid $25 for this one.. yikes

Plus I got an Oster Imperial Pulse Matic 14 in chrome clean as the day it was made. 5 bucks.

OH MY !!!!

I simply looooove the Coffee pot dahling.....Why don't you brew up a fresh batch and take a picture for us. I would love to see a fresh brewed pot of coffee all lit up! I love lights!<p> You know what I am gonna be searching for now.....

when i was a child (about as early as 5) i loved blenders and the Oster was the one to have, as far as i was concerned. she eventually DID get an oster, though a boring all white plastic model with glass jar. i was maybe about ten. i still have that blender and have been eyeing vintage models recently. Perks

That is one of my FAVORITE percolators. I collect them....Have well over 150(all in working order) in my collection.
Could actually brew a pot of coffee in a different one for many months without getting bored.

P.S. 29" of snow here in CT......The groundhog was correct!

Pics

Pete,

Sorry..no pics...I have them upstairs in the attic and downstairs in the rec room in plastic storage containers. It is fun to seek them out at Tag and/or Estate Sales. Also got lots of them through Ebay.
They are so much fun, and a definite conversation starter when you have guests over for coffee(Where the heck did you get that?)
Enjoy your fun collection!
Gary

Will try to post some of my favorites at some point in my busy life!

Pete, Nice Imperial!

I picked up one of those percs recently and had learned prior after seeing Robert's that once the coffee is done brewing, one of the lights goes out. Perhaps yours reached temp w/out any water in it? Or is it surely burnt out? Nice score-
Cory

Pete...awesome once again

I thought the Kenner Easy Bake Oven was the ONLY thing that heated any food/drink with light bulbs. That is amazing.

Question for the group, is anyone else aware of any other products that used light bulbs for heating/cooking? It is amazing how much heat can be generated by confining lightbulbs.

On a semi-related note, I was repairing a battery holder for one of my cameras the other day, and accidently shorted across the poles when I assembled it. I picked up the pack and the whole thing was boiling hot, I thought the poles would burn holes in my hand. Dropped, it, pried it open real quick, no damage. But man, it's amazing how confined energy can surprise you.

I have a GE Advantium Oven that uses Halogen lamps for heating and cooking-works very well. Can also cook with microwaves-or microwaves and the halogen bulbs together.(speedcook cycle)Stored energy-In the transmitters where I work besides charges in capacitors(lethal)you can face stored mechanical "charges" in the medium voltage primary circuit breakers-In one of the rigs pulled out the breaker to work on it-needed lubing-had to discharge the spring closed contacts-if you didn't and your hand got in it-would get you just like a bear trap. You have to know what levers or devices in them to stay away from when the contactc are under spring pressure. If you trip it just make sure you and work partners are clear.

Kevin, the lights are for decorative purposes only, it still boils the water with heating coils.. LOL We're talking 60's & 70's here...

I'll have to retry it just to see about that light going out when the temp is reached Corey.

Ah...light bulbs

I thought that maybe they at least kept the coffee warm!

Darn, one less lightbulb heating appliance.....

Pete, how do you do it!!!

Great finds Pete! I have the same percolator in black. It's really cool before the brewing process starts. Once the coffee starts to perk (loudly, I might add), the colour of the coffee obscures the lights. You don't see them again until the pot is empty. DRAT! Even though my heart belongs to the Sunbeam Coffeemasters, this Proctor Silex makes a pretty good cup of coffee!

I love the Oster Imperial Blender!! Don't you think the "striping" on the front is fun? My kitchen center has that same 3-d striping. Kind of a freaky 70's look.

Have fun and have a hot cup o' joe for me!!!
