I gave this to Eric a while back as one electric dryer is good enough for me. It works well. Came from an elderly lady's home and was not used much.

Must be a DE606, I love mine.

It is indeed a DE606. I hate to scrap it, but its overstayed its welcome.

If it gets scrapped save the motor, electronic control, selector switch, blower wheel and idler pulley and shaft as these parts are NLA and others may need them to keep their HOHs going. All these are easy to remove if you need help taking it apart call me. John

I find it odd that nobody is interested in this dryer... Clearly I'm several states away, but there has to people in your neck of the woods that could complete their Maytag set with this beauty. I looks like it's in immaculate shape, I always like the 606's, the blue-collar luxury dryer. All the features of the lit console machines in a plain package. Hopefully it doesn't become a pile of parts but you can't say you didn't give it time I suppose. Out of curiosity, what was your reasoning for wanting to get rid of it?

 

The tag suggests it's a July or 1971 model.

Always wanted a machine like this even if it doesnt have all the bells and whistles or buttons. It is all fully automatic anyway so who needs the buttons. My only concern is the seemingly small tub. With a 4.0 Cu ft duet, this dryer would be hard pressed to tumble the clothes very well.
Any chance of getting the drum dimensions so I can compare it to my dependable care dryer of more recent vintage?

I think the reason no one wants it here is because of the availability of natural gas. I'd say most homes in the NYC & Philly market are equipped with gas service. Compared to electric, gas is MUCH less expensive. So I loose that fight. The only folks who want electric seem to be apartment dwellers with no space for a big guy like this one.

I have a bunch of machines I'd love to work on, and very limited space. I want to play with other toys but I'd literally have to crawl over this, and thats not a good thing. I'm sure, if it was an 800 series, or gas, that it would have fond a home - even my home. But I just can't justify keeping it around as something I will never use.

Steve, I will see what I can do. I looked on aw.org to see if someone had already made the comparison, but I found a lt of chat and no math.

I've been using HoH dryers (DE806 and DE306) as my daily drivers for the last 3 years and I've got to say I love them. They dry evenly and the electronic sensor system is the best I've ever used. Their volume is decieving, they'll hold a lot and dry it well.

The 606 is essentially an 806 dryer, without the lighted control panel. I don't know about a drum light, although I suppose one could be added easily enough.
