Lately I have noticed quite a few quite recent model pickup trucks rusting out before the plastic headlights start to fog and yellow!-trucks that are only about 5-6 years old-did MFGs give up on rust protection?
from casual observation the GM brands seem to fare the worst, followed by Ford, then Chrysler. Toyotas seem somewhat prone as well but maybe not in 4-5 yrs, and Tacomas have had that problem for a while, notably with frames.
Here in Florida I rarely see rusty cars anymore. It was mostly 80s and some 90s models that did. But I have noticed the Toyota Corolla roofs tend to peel and rust badly from about 2003-2008 models for some reason. Nissans of the mid 2000s seem to have the same issue for some reason on the Maxima.
Florida has the rust problem from the top because of the salty sea, where we get it from the bottom from salt and brine for 4 months on the roads. Maybe March this crap will end. Still snowing here now.
