A bit early but after seeing the Christmas displays in the shops lately it got me thinking of the quality of Christmas lights etc. Do you think the LED lights are indistinguishable now between the filament type?
No, I still think the old Pifco/Noma filament bulbs cast the nicest glow, with red, blue, green, yellow, and magenta colours. And they had a nice variety of styles of shade on the lamp holders.
The LEDs are too garish. They don't seem to come with much variety of styles... just bare lamps or berries, and that's about it. In four colours: red, blue, green, yellow. Or plain white.
I recently swapped from traditional LED strands to Addressable strands. the color options are infinite (16.8 million-per individual bulb) and as a bonus, I can synchronize them using a controller I built.
Superior LED Christmas lights with the same bright, warm glow as vintage incandescent! Nostalgic, retro charm in C7 & C9 & S14 bulb sizes and a variety of classic colors and styles.
Thanks for posting that link for Tru-Tone. I hadn’t heard of that company before and their bulbs look outstanding. I’ll definitely be ordering some for a closer look.
My pleasure David. Almost all of my C7 bulbs on the Christmas tree are Tru-Tone. They are the closest to incandescents out there in terms of color and vintage Westinghouse/General Electric bulb shape. The just came out with version of the metal, NOMA star in C7 size.
