OK first I realized yesterday that standard members and logged-out members were getting a "thread not found message" on archived Super Forum threads. I sat on the sofa yesterday morning and tried for over two hours to a better message to work properly (without screwing something else up) and it just wouldn't work. So I tried it again this morning and got the code right this time (or so I hope lol). The message should now read "The Super Forum Archives are only available to donating members at this time. If you are upgraded but not logged-in, please log-in above to view this archived thread."
Ralph it was actually much more of a coding nightmare to get it to work the way it is right now, but it was worth all the effort. I only want the Super Forum archives to be available to upgraded members. My reasoning behind that is there were many controversial threads over the years in Super and I do not want to let the general public have access to those. I've worked really hard over the last six months to enable us to have a place that we can share, talk, cry and laugh about most things but still put a positive face on the main reason this website exists, our interest/hobby of washers, dryers and dishwashers. I'm quite pleased with the results so far as we now have 145 upgraded members and I suspect more will continue join us.
I ask that us upgraded members be sensitive and do keep in mind that if someone asks a question who is not upgraded to not direct them to an archived Super Forum thread, there will be times that it is going to happen, but I suspect not too often. At the same time I still want the topics lists properly followed as to which threads go into which forums. This topic relating to home plumbing should go in the Super Forum. Links to archived threads in Super should follow the same reasoning, things like the Happy Gay Pride threads or Picture Threads should be posted in ATT or DL, where as recipes, home stuff, car stuff, detergents, small appliances etc. should be posted in the Super Forum and links to archived thread can be freely posted anywhere.
So to sum it up I want to encourage the use of links to archived Super Forum Threads. There is an amazing amount of great information in there. Maybe later I'll start a Find and Show us your Favorite Super Forum Thread.
