LG Tromm FL Washer & Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer

My new back up set. I had amassed 3 other sets in the garage, but those units are all with new owners now. Two of the pairs had gas dryers (we have electric outlets only) ,and the third pair was a snazzy TOL GE 'Right Height' set i sold for a solid profit to afford the BMW motorcycle.

So what about this odd couple? The dryer is the classic top filter design and sports a nice windowed door. The LG washer apparently works but needs a lot of cleaning. I snagged them both for $100 total so i am not expecting the moon.[this post was last edited: 7/15/2017-20:43]

The lg likely has most of its odor near the bellow. Clean it by hand with bleach and the run the washer empty with bleach. Clean out the drain trap and repeat as needed.

I have this fondness for comet (the powder cleaner). It seems to do a great job and leaves a pleasant smell.

I like those LG washers and I have a similar (but gas and higher up model) dryer. Really like the dryer and use it every week. The one thing I find odd about the dryer is the drum (that rotates) is rather shallow. There's a fixed 5-6" wide area inside the dryer door that clothes "tumble" on, but it does rotate.

As for cleaning the LG, you may also want to consider running it empty, normal cycle/heavy soil/water plus with the hottest water you can (W/heater if it has it) and a couple heaping tablespoons of citric acid (but no bleach). As I recall this does a better job "cleaning", while the bleach is better at disinfecting.

According to the manual, there is a dedicated Tub Clean cycle.

Depends on what that programme actually does.

My previous machine, a Panasonic, had such a cycle. It merely gave a gentle wash at 40 deg C. Rinses were higher level, with rapid distribution speed tumbles. Basically to slosh the water around.

Sounds like a great buy! What year is the Cabrio? And do you like it?

We usually have Speed Queens, but I was looking at some of the reviews on the Whirlpool dryers -- it seems like they are well ranked machines for a family home? For your price, it sounds like a pretty amazing deal.
