the very first generation of the Powerclean portables! Absolutely stunning it’s like brand new still. Those jet holes on the top arm are giant! This would be such a nice machine for anyone looking for a portable vintage dishwasher!

I have a 1974 model

Mine has 5 buttons instead of 3 plus that switch. It offers Super Scour which heats the water for the 1st wash and the final rinse, and has a button for that heated dry versus unheated. Other wise the inside looks exactly the same AND IT CLEANS EVERYTHING 50 years later. My pics are from before the motor/pump replacement. It has performed flawlessly since, about 2x weekly.

Whirlpool power, clean dishwashers

We’re introduced around 1985 the same time that they started supplying dishwashers to Sears, whirlpool made some important improvements in the pump longevity from the model posted here when they came out with the power, clean dishwasher, even the models with filters the pump was improved for longer life.

You can put a power clean module in these older dishwashers if you’d like, these older dishwasher with the filters cleaned great but they left a mess inside. If you really got carried away with the amount of stuff you left on the plates. It did have a convenient little trap to remove. It was still much easier than dealing with a KitchenAid dishwasher with the stuff went down under the filter or Maytag reverse rack dishwasher with the stuff was just all over the place and all around the edges of the pump intake.

GE and DNM dishwashers did not leave anything in the bottom, but they ground up the food and recirculated it so it ended up in the corners of the upper racks and all over the place if you really left too much stuff on the dishes.
