Does anyone know of a site that lists all the brands of Detergents, Fabric Softeners, and Additives sold in the US today? I am curious to see just what else is out there other than the "regulars" I see at the supermarket. Thanks

Launderess, Thank You

I love reading your posts....You are a wealth of knowledge. I like the scent and performance of Tide with Bleach, but the front loader doesn't...it always makes too much suds with things like whites, towels, and sheets....maybe because of the high wash temp (160) ? I also think it does not rinse out well, because the next wash even with a lower dosage still over-suds. I have been using ALL and the new Oxydol, both of which seem to be ok and without the extra suds, but am curious as to what else is out there or what test results you or anyone else has come up with. Thanks

Joe-- I have sudsing issues with all Tide products (even Tide HE) in my frontloader, mostly because of my softened water. I take it you must have soft water, too. If I don't put a bit of softener in the last rinse, there is always some suds. However, I like Tide detergents (especially Tide Coldwater) and just put up with some extra suds. I have yet to find any detergent that removes stains as well as Tide CW or Tide w/Bleach.

I wish Tide (since there are already only 38 versions of their detergents) would make a very-low or no-sudsing detergent. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

bingswig: You're welcome, no problem at all.

I use TWB for general white loads (towels, clothing, undergarments, etc), with no sudsing problems at all, even with 1/4 cup and 140F wash temp. Then again have figured out all the soap residue from wash cloths is acting to keep the foaming down to little or nil. Tried laundering some shirts with TWB and even at 1 TB had suds all over the place. Quickly added some grated Fels soap, and that took care of things. So from now on only use TWB for general whites or make sure to add enough grated soap to keep the suds down. Have so many other low sudsing detergents in my stash as well.

That site has been one of my favourites for years, though products change often, it is good to see some of what is in there. Since American laundry products do not have to disclose their contents, MSDS is about as good as one is going to get in terms of information.
