Amy Winehouse!

I am LOVING "Back to Black."

She is this physically small woman with a huge "blue eyed soul" voice. However, she's more Janis Joplin than Dusty Springfield (Two other favourites of mine.)

The single (here in the States) is the fabulous "Rehab." Hooky, tasty, Sixties flavoured.

I also love "Wake Up Alone."

Hey Lawrence!

Got your email, just no time to reply yet. Well Amy, so sad she is in the state she is in. They are trying to make her go to re hab bout time she started saying yes yes yes. But in all seriousness why does the poor girl not realise we love (well i do anyway) her music and start getting better. I want her around to do well and make some more great songs. Not yet got the album, cant help but feel by buying it im contributing to a serious alcohol and drugs problem, neither of which I condone (some here might remind me I do like a drink but then im also a lightweight who cant handle more than 4 pints before wanting to go to bed LOL! ) Im 100% against drug use myself and would take great pleasure in talking to the police if i knew someone dealing or using etc. My experience is from local radio or music played at work. Until her problems are sorted out though I wont be buying the album. Rob

Well,

according to several things I have read at EW.com (Entertainment Weekly,) Amy Winehouse does drink, but not abusively.

I find her to be a refreshing counterpoint to the dull, smug, self-righteousness of the age.

As for me and "recreational drugs," they are not for me (any more), but if other adult individulas want to partake away from me, it's their decision.

I just love this disc.

here in the UK

It may well be her problems are over hyped in the media but nonetheless even though she may not be as you say, dull and smug the recreational drug thing (never been sure how pumping yourself full of stuff that could kill you in 1 dose is recreational but then I guess I have been far to drunk too many times to the point where it could have finished me) IS rubbing off on fashionable wannabes. There will always be 1 fool out there wanting to live a life like Amy Winehouse and having blatantly put some Intelligent music on the scene she should have taken the intelligent step to promote it in a healthy way. Not sure which came first, Music or her drug problem, I just know the 2 should not be mixing. Lawrence please dont get me wrong, falling out is the last thing I want, I also dont want to read about the kid who dressed like her, acted like her and took drugs/drink like her then died, like I read in the paper daily about other music culture groups. Noting Rap linked with gun crime and wannabes carrying guns etc. Best wishes and Hugs . Rob
