The painters came and went and it's finally done,, took them 2.5 days since the ceiling was being done as well. No way was I going up there and besides more paint would have ended up on the floor. What a difference from that mustard yellow, it's nice and bright and I was really worried about putting gray on the walls..
That green chair is going down to the family room. You can see a new <cheap> floor lamp I bought behind it.. modern styling. Even the fireplace doesn't look as bad now but I still want it replaced with something less ornate.
So I'm on the quest for new furniture and a sharp looking area rug. I'm re-using our old glass coffee table and end tables.. the coffee table is there in the pic needing dusting.

and my find of the year vintage modern lamp is in place.. makes such a difference.. I put it up and the next day the painter went to loosen the metal thing by the ceiling to paint and he shorted it out.. so I got up there to fix it and while I was "fixing" it.. I dropped it about 8 feet onto the tile floor below.. I just about died when I saw little piece of plastic all over the floor. I could have cried..
Well it wasn't that badly damaged after all,,, some Crazy Glue on the ends,, a new lamp cord and porcelain lamp socket and she was good to go.. WHEW..

Oh and don't look at the door frame, I haven't painted those yet.. that's claw damage from Ben jumping up to open the door . Need to find a solution. anyone got one?

Bondo. I've used it to fix gouged wood before. Let it dry after applying and sand it to match the rest of the molding surface.

New paint and light looks great!

Durhams Rock Hard Water Putty. Can be hard to find but the stuff is magic, I've rebuilt whole sections of broken/rotten wood with it. Practice first though, it doesn't sand as easily as they say.

You could also take the trim from around the door from the inside of a closet and put it on the door. It should match.
Then use new wood inside the closet. Nobody will ever look at it in detail (in the closet that is).

Then teach Ben not to jump on the door! See if you can teach him to just sit by the door when he wants out. We had the same problem and we didn't fix the damage until the retraining was completed.

The color is called "universal gray"
Ordered my sofa and chair yesterday but it's going to take about 6-8 weeks. Most shocking was that it's made in Canada. I was really expecting to hear "offshore" or China so I'm happy about that. Here's the one I've order, sort of a retro vintage look.. the BYRD model.. I'm getting it in a burnt orange color,, actually the color that the other sofa REPLAY is shown in on the same page.
