Looks like a nice Maytag pair

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That's a nice set.  You don't see too many avocado Maytags from this late in the 70's.  The washer serial number looks like CZ, placing these very late at December 1979 machines.  With the big load dryer, this would make a great set for someone starting their collection out in CA.

They modified their ad to include a price...$500...way too much for these "non-authentic mid-century" things. I was thinking $15.00 each or both for $25.00.[this post was last edited: 6/1/2013-01:02]

$500 asking price - $25 offer price????

I don't see any price anywhere in their add!

I was thinking more like $100 for both as they look to be in exceptional condition.  I'm tempted being that it's an 806 - 808 set, but I'm out of room and I don't need (or want) another 220V dryer.

Sheesh, another Craigslist flake who thinks they're sitting on gold, (well, in a way they are).

I went to look at an early '70's Avacado A606 a few weeks ago. The machine was in far worse condition than in the photo, really beat up cabinet and console

Seller was asking $35, I offered $20. No, he said because his father was going to take it apart and scrap it. I informed him it was only worth around $20 in scrap and it would be going to a good cause-(me), instead of a slow boat to China. Still he wouldn't budge.

I passed because buying would have meant lugging it up narrow cellar stairs in an old smal house.

He was still listing it on Craigslist last I saw.

John says it's far easier to convert an electric dryer to gas than vice versa since the heavier wiring is already there so it probably would not be that hard to convert an electric dryer to gas if you wanted the model.

Do the SOH dryers not have the pilot access door on the front panel?  If they do, converting an electric model to gas would require a gas-friendly cabinet.

Maytags

Sent the sellers an e-mail  will try to have a look this Friday after returning from the East Coast......Maybe I'll have as much luck as I did with the pink Maytag's in Indio (they they were asking $800.00 and when I offered $200.00 they were offended, I think they are still for sale.....).
