Lowes: Whirlpool Vantage on Clearance

I walked through the appliance department this morning and to my shock, the Vantage set have been discontinued. That was a short run. The set was on clearance for 1500 each. They also had the Samsung TL on display. Control panel used cheap membrane buttons that don't last.

Are you sure they've actually been discontinued? There is still a lavish video about the Vantage set on the front page of Whirlpool's website.

Having posed that question, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they do get phased out. The Vantage pair's list price is $5,000. According to Consumer Reports, they score about the same as the $1,500 (again, that's for the pair) Cabrio set.

Only Lowes, Perhaps

Maybe it is just that Lowes has decided to no longer carry that model in their stores.
