Watch Out On Dosage...

I used half the recommended in my Fridgemore 3.5 cu.ft. machine and it was WAY too much. Everything reeked of Lysol for a couple more washings.

I have used this stuff for years. It is good stuff. But as the above nurdlinger states, watch the dosage. He ain't kiddin'. No cat litter box is clean till it gets Lysol'd.

Morgue smell

I did cadaver work while studying physiology. Never forgot the smell of the disinfectant.
Later, while cleaning the basement after a flood I bought LYSOL.
WHAMMO! My house smells like a morgue.
Never,ever again.
You use this stuff on towels? Jeepers. I just cannot imagine.

OMG I had no idea that women used that to get rid of that oh how can I put it so gently....that low tide on a clamflat smell. I couldnt even imagine what that stuff would do if it wasnt measured out like it says to. I will have to run it by my mom to see if she heard of it. More than likely my grandmother would have heard of it being used but I cant ask her....she has passed on. The things women went thru to "please" the men at that time.

Here in the group one of the less well known former uses for Lysol. Simply cannot imagine bathing my nether regions with phenol, and certianly not injecting a solution of such as a wash, but such as times were then. Remember also daily bathing was not common until really quite recently. So one can imagine how things were back in the 1940's or so about keeping "clean".

Phenol does have some rather nasty properties, probably one of the reasons current Lysol moved to other chemicals. Wonder if it still EPA registered? Never could stand the scent of the brown bottle variety. Though remember reading labels back in the day about using Lysol in the laundry, the scent does NOT go away easily.

Is Lysol the same as Dettol

Hi Guys,

We have a product over here, called Dettol, which is a disinfectant, for personal/cleaning use.

Do you have this product in the US/UK, or is Lysol the equivilent?

Regards

Nathan

What DIED in there?

Never trust anything that bleeds for 5 days and does not die.
(ducks and runs)

OMG I have never laughed so hard in my life!

I have heard of bleach being used down south as well.

[OK so who is gonna ultimately scream about THIS thread being inappropriate?]

~I will have to run it by my mom to see if she heard of it.
OK now bravery like that deserves a medal!

My mother used to use it to disinfect hotels and motels while we, as a family, were on vacation.

What I did not realize was she could have been dispensing it from an internal area and "peeing" on surfaces to disinfect them. I guess that would have left both hands free for more scrubbing. *LOL*

Miss Toggles I was reading your posts and I got a good laugh. I hate it when I type what I am thinking about...I just read that again and thought OMG!
My mom is too funny...it seems as she gets older the shock factor that comes out of her mouth makes me do a double take. She recently told me where I was concieved. I almost died when she told me. I was over her house and she was watching tv and there was a Chevy Impala commercial where they showed a 1960's Impala. She said out loud...those had a nice big back seat. So I bit and asked ..how do you know? She told me my dad had a car just like that and on a hot summers night in July..her birthday my dad being the romantic he was took her to the Dayton Gravel Pit aka the Passion Pit. So imagine vinyl seats on a hot steamy night and your getting hot and sweaty. Well that night I began and 9 months later here I came along. I always thought I was a premie since my parents got married in September of 1964 and I was born in April of 1965.
So the moral of the story is if you ask you just might find out more than you wanted to know!

Toggles:
Shame on you! Do you really think that your poor Mother may have done something like that? (:-> !

This afternoon I had to go take my 6 month physical so I can continue to maintain my First Class Medical Certificate (FAA)
and when I walked in the office, what do you think it smelled like? I had to work hard to keep from cracking up. I was going to ask the receptionist if anyone in the office that day had used such a chemical on their person. But then my better sense got the best of me....
