Anyone have experience with them? I bought one this week and although I was rather sceptic about them (the price was low enough just to try it out) I think I see some changes now. One thing I noticed is that the load of towels I have washed with the regular amount of detergent isn't rinsed well. After four high water level rinses in the Miele and all the spinning in between and afterwards the water still was very sudsy. Could it be they really work?

magnetic water softeners

How are they SUPPOSED to work as opposed to traditional water softeners. Anyone know?

Hi Louis

I just erased everything I started to post on my craptop, but to sum it up, your new water softener is removing the minerals which was causing you to have to use extra etergent. Since these minerals like calcium carbonate and iron carbonate couldn't themselves dissolve in water but remained suspended, your detergent was clinging to these minerals instead of dissolving in the water as it should. You had to use more to get the desired cleaning effect. Now with your soft water you are using too much. you can cut down your measurements now and save money.

David, I realised that I should use less detergent, but I was rather sceptic about the effectivity of this thingy. The magnets are very strong, but this device is only around 3 inches long, so I couldn't imagine these magnets could do a lot.

What I'm still wondering about (and I didn't find a definite answer, scientists don't seem to agree on the effect of the magnets on the water) is, how it works. The minerals aren't removed, they must still be there. I guess it's kind of genetic manipulation LOL.

Genetic Manipulation?

I'm not sure Louis, but it sounds like as good of an explanation as anyLOL.
